Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—An innovative program to increase social inclusion and employment opportunities for disabled individuals called 'Sheltered Workshop and Disability Training Center' launched by the Disability Directorate of Surabaya State University (UNESA) was welcomed by the East Java Provincial Social Service
This was conveyed Head of the East Java Province Social Service, Dra. Restu Novi Widiani, MM., in the presentation of the Sheltered Workshop program by the UNESA Directorate of Disabilities at the East Java Social Service Office, on Friday, 20 October 2023.
UNESA Director of Disabilities, Dr. Wagino, M.Pd., said, this Sheltered Workshop is an approach that aims to provide skills training, employment and potential development for individuals with disabilities in a supportive environment.
This program has received full support from the Provincial Social Service East Java, which is committed to improving welfare and social inclusion for people with disabilities in the region.
The FIP lecturer added that the Sheltered Workshop is important to provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate actively in the economic and social activities of the community .
"We try to create a friendly environment for people with disabilities and help them develop the skills needed to be independent in everyday life," he said.
This program involves various types of disabilities, including blind, deaf, as well as individuals with developmental disorders. They will be given skills training that suits their individual interests and potential.
Apart from that, this program will also provide participants with the opportunity to participate in various community projects that will provide benefits to the people of East Java.
Kadinsos Jatim expressed his commitment to support the Sheltered Workshop program and hopes that this will be the first step to increase social inclusion of people with disabilities throughout the province.
"We are very proud of this initiative, and we will provide support "We are fully committed to ensuring the success of the Sheltered Workshop program. This is a positive step towards a more inclusive and just society for all its citizens," said Kadinsos Restu Novi Widiani.
This Sheltered Workshop program is expected to become a model that can be adopted by regions -other regions in Indonesia. With this collaborative effort, it is hoped that a more inclusive society can be realized, where individuals with disabilities have equal opportunities to develop and contribute to social and economic development.
