Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya-Confucius Institute Unesa in collaboration with Central China Normal University and Surabaya State University held online interviews for prospective local Mandarin teachers at Confucius Institute on Thursday (17/08). The goal is to find a Chinese teacher who is competent and fulfills several specified requirements.
On that occasion, the interviewer who was present was Zhou Bo, Deputy Director of CI Affairs at CCNU. Then from the Indonesian side, there were Catur Supriyanto and Anis Trisusana respectively as Director and Deputy Director of CI Unesa. In addition, there is Xiao Renfei, the Director of CI Unesa from the Chinese side and an expatriate Chinese teacher.
Participants who were interviewed as prospective Mandarin language teachers were Choirun Nisa, Febriana Intan Lucia Gunawan, and Tiffany Qorie, who met the requirements of CI Unesa, among others. First, have six valid Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) certificates. Second, graduates of S-2 Mandarin Language Education or Mandarin Literature study programs. Third, able to operate Ms. Offices. Fourth, be active and creative.
In this activity, each participant introduced themselves in Mandarin and Indonesian for two minutes. Then experiment teaching Mandarin to adults and children for ten minutes. After that, the participants asked questions about how to increase the local influence of the Confucius Institute, market development, how to increase Indonesian students' interest in Mandarin, and others.
Choirun Nisa's first candidate is a master's degree graduate at Yunnan University and has experience in teaching. This was conveyed at the time of self-introduction using Mandarin and Indonesian. On the occasion of the teaching experiment, Choirun Nisa conveyed the theme of learning about work.
Febriana Intan Lucia Gunawan, the second candidate is a graduate of S-2 at Nanjing University and has had one year of experience in an international school. Febriana Intan Lucia Gunawan, who is often called Intan, conveyed about "Reading Well" through PPT.
While the third candidate, Tiffany Qorie is a graduate of S-2 at Shanghai University. He conveyed about "How to Get acquainted Using Mandarin" also with PPT. After all candidates finished introducing themselves, teaching experiments and question and answer, the activity continued with an overall assessment session for participants conducted by the evaluation team.
