President of the ASEAN University Sports Council (AUSC), Mohd Rusllim Mohamed, expressed his appreciation for AUG's success in Surabaya-Malang. He expressed his gratitude for the good collaboration between the central government, the regions, and a number of universities which are involved.
Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—The 21st ASEAN student sports party, or ASEAN University Games (AUG) Surabaya-Malang, which will take place on June 25—July 6 2024 then received appreciation from the leadership of the ASEAN University Sports Council (AUSC).
The international agenda handled by the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) as coordinator involving eight other universities in Surabaya and Malang was successful, both from aspects of organization, achievement, economy and collaboration.
The various achievements and successes of the competition colored the discussion at the disbandment of the AUG 2024 organizing committee at the Whiz Luxe Hotel Spazio Surabaya, on Saturday, 9 November 2024.
Martadi, Deputy Chancellor for Planning, Development, Cooperation and Information and Communication Technology at UNESA expressed his gratitude and pride for the trust given to UNESA to oversee the smooth running of this event together with universities others in Surabaya and Malang.
He explained that this moment was extraordinary because it provided an opportunity for UNESA to develop and discuss in order to take lessons from the ongoing implementation.
Sesjen Kemendikbudristek or Mendikti Sciencetek, Suharti provided reinforcement to continue to improve the standardization of competition in various fields in the future.
The UNESA education expert also expressed his gratitude for the attention and contribution of all parties while UNESA was the host, and apologized if there were any shortcomings in service.
"UNESA is committed to identifying things that need to be improved so that the holding of AUG in the future, which God willing will be held in Malaysia, can be even more successful," he said.

“With the format of holding it in nine higher education institutions in two cities, namely Surabaya-Malang, the competition is running as expected "a new dimension for AUSC and AUG in the future," he said.
Mohd Rusllim also gave high appreciation to Indonesia as the overall champion with 296 medals, consisting of 126 gold, 99 silver, and 71 bronze, leaving Thailand and Malaysia in second and third place.
The dissolution of the AUG 2024 committee was attended by AUSC officials, related ministries, leaders of AUG venue universities throughout East Java, and all UNESA leadership levels.
On that occasion, he revealed It is hoped that the 2024 AUG evaluation report will provide valuable insights to continue to improve the standards of AUG implementation in the future.
Secretary General (Sesjen) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology or the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Technology (Kemendikti Saintek), Suharti, emphasized that Indonesia has succeeded in carrying out its role as host despite facing various challenges.
Support from local governments, especially from East Java Province , as well as contributions from all levels of the committee and related parties are the key to the success of this event.
Suharti also highlighted the importance of experience and lessons learned from this event as important capital in making future international activities or competitions a success.
"The standardization of competitions continues to increase, and this experience must be an important part of evaluation material to improve the quality of competitions in the future," he said.[]
