Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA – Various efforts continue to be made by UNESA to create a comfortable and safe campus environment for the academic community. One of them is holding an online socialization of the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) to education staff (tendik) on Thursday, February 10, 2022.
Deputy Chancellor for General Affairs and Finance, Suprapto, S.Pd., M.T., in his remarks said that this activity could be part of UNESA's commitment to create a healthy and friendly campus for all as mandated by Permendikbudristek Number 30 of 2021.
He added that the Permendikbudristek was there to fill the regulatory vacuum, because the Draft Law on the Elimination of Sexual Violence (RUU PKS) had not been ratified.
In addition, there are special situations that need to be taken seriously, namely the prevention and handling of sexual violence on campus. "I hope this can be a shared reflection and a friendly campus is a shared responsibility," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the PPKS Task Force, Dr. Mutimmatul Faidah, M.Ag., stated that the socialization was a continuation of the previous socialization to lecturers around UNESA.
The hope is that the entire academic community can understand the mandate of the Minister of Education and Culture regarding PPKS and jointly contribute to realizing a campus that is zero sexual violence (KS).
"Let's together make UNESA a safe space for all of us. I am UNESA, I am against sexual violence,” he said loudly.
As a speaker, Iman Pasu Marganda Hadiarto Purba, S.H., M.H., Advocacy and Legal Division of the PPKS Task Force said that the purpose of the socialization was to make UNESA a dignified, humane and respectful university.
He continued, sexual violence is all acts that demean, humiliate, harass, and/or attack a person's body and/or reproductive function because of inequality in relations and/or gender.
According to him, Article 5 in the Permendikbudristek comprehensively regulates what actions are classified as sexual violence which includes verbal, non-physical actions, and/or through information and communication technology.
"As state apparatus, we must maintain the dignity and honor of ASN, because our actions greatly affect honor. It is better to prevent than to treat," he said. [UNESA PR]
