Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA - Writing, for some people may be considered as a normal thing, sometimes even bored. However, unlike Wahyu Dian Andriana, this girl who was born in Probolinggo on March 9, 2001, actually made her hobby of writing to be pursued so that she was able to produce a series of achievements.
This Indonesian Language and Literature Department student has won various achievements in the field of writing, especially poetry, and he has even been able to produce a book Anthology of Poetry entitled "Compound Composition" in 2019. Most recently, this student managed to make an achievement at the National Poetry Creation Competition last November and her poem was published in an anthology entitled 'About Feelings and Words'.
The student who is fondly called Dian admitted that initially her hobby started from her love of reading books. Moreover, when he majored in high school, the Language Class supported his interest. From reading then comes the desire to put his ideas in writing.
“Until one day I took part in a poetry competition and thank God I won 1st place at the national level. Since winning the competition, I have found my passion in writing and have become more confident in pursuing it,” he said. Dian is now increasingly active in writing in various media and is currently active as a freelance writer. He continued to improve his abilities until he had to enter the Department of Indonesian Language and Literature UNESA.
He explained that his inspiration in writing does not only come from personal experience, but also comes from the surrounding environment such as the experiences of other people and the conditions of the surrounding environment. Writing inspiration is not only obtained from the experience or knowledge of the author, but writing inspiration can be obtained from anywhere.
“In my opinion to write not only needs to open the author's eyes, but the writer must also open his own heart or feelings. Because writing must involve the eyes and taste so that the writing touches the reader more,” he added.
This 21-year-old woman explained about the themes of the poems that managed to come out as champions. The themes in question are 'Feelings' and 'Semiotic Bias'. The two themes managed to become champions. "I like a poem about black and white because sometimes feelings and reality don't match up, so most people always feel the turmoil between feelings and logic, I try to express that turmoil," he said.
In writing and developing her potential, Dian certainly faces several challenges, one of which is when she presents an element of taste in every writing. Usually it happens when the writer is stuck or chased by a deadline. To overcome this he usually asks the opinion of the closest people.
There are four tips for writing Dian's style; 1) write about anything, anywhere, anytime. 2) learn to be sensitive and always open your eyes to the surrounding conditions, 3) make the experience of yourself and others or the environment as material for writing ideas, 4) read, read and keep reading.
On the sidelines of busy college, Dian turned out to have a target. He wanted to finish his second book for publication. “Hopefully in the near future we can pass the selection of big publishers. Please pray," he hoped. Dian also has aspirations to build libraries in various regions. He hopes that more and more future generations will participate in enlivening, developing and advancing the world of Indonesian literacy because the most important thing is not to be afraid to start and try something because failing is a process to grow.
