Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya-In commemoration of National Music Day, Surabaya State University through KKM Gamelan Sawunggaling, Sendratasik Department, Faculty of Language and Arts in collaboration with the Cultural Office of East Java Province and Cultural Park of East Java Province held a music performance titled "Jelajah Bunyi Nusantara: Archipelago Sounds 2021" on March 9-13, 2021. The event was held virtually and aired live streaming on Youtube channels Disbudpar Jatim, Cakdurasim and Gamelan Sawunggaling.
There were several performances on the opening night of the show. Some of them are music works from Pamuji Nir Kala from East Java Music Arts Activist, Segothak-Segatheng from Sanggar Baladewa, Alap-alap from group 7 MM with composer Suwandi Widianto, Surabaya, and Kabasmaran from Anom Suneko and Omah Gamelan with composer Anom Suneko, Yogyakarta. In addition, there are also performances from music activists of Sumatra, East Nusa Tenggara and Papua.
Kajur Sendratasik, FBS, Unesa, Dr. Anik Juwariyah, M. Si., said that the cooperation in the implementation of the show was the umpteenth time. He hopes that the future cooperation will increase both in quality and quantity. As a major engaged in the arts, he continued, Unesa through KKM Gamelan Sawunggaling is very supportive of the event. Because, it can increase the experience of students in the arts and can also be a means of socialization of Indonesian art and culture, especially the field of music to the general public. "Thank you to all parties, and hopefully this can be a joint effort in caring for, maintaining, and developing the art and culture of Nusantara music," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of East Java Cultural Park Upt, Agus Ramajanto, S.Sos., MM., said that the purpose of the event was as a means of strengthening the "musical religiosity" of art actors in the field of music and became an event for silatuhrami art community and all Indonesian people. In addition, it is also a medium of strengthening the knowledge of Nusantara music and becoming a space for expression and appreciation of art in the field of music.
Head of East Java Culture and Tourism Office, Sinarto, S. Kar., MM., said that March 9th is an interesting and important note remembered by all Indonesians, because it is a National Music Day. According to him, National Music Day should be understood as a national awakening day, either rising in advancing the arts or national music culture or rising consciously from the downturn due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
He continued, that the revival needs to be realized through various forms of creativity and innovation in the use of information technology and digitalization to develop and advance the arts and culture of Indonesia. "Let's rise together through music performances and this National Music Day. Open a live streaming channel and watch the richness of Nusantara's art and music culture," he said. (meds/zam)
