Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA—S-3 Program in Language and Literature Education (PBS), Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS) was assessed in the field by a team from the Independent Accreditation Institute for Education (LAMDIK) on Friday, 18 August 2023.
This assessment was carried out by assessors consisting of Assessor I, Prof. Dr. Rustono, M.Hum., and Assessor II, Dr. Kastam Syamsi, M.Ed. The two assessors were welcomed by the rectorate, faculties and FBS lecturer coordinators at the Auditorium, Building T14, FBS, Lidah Wetan Campus, Surabaya.
UNESA Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., said that this activity is routine every five years to maintain the quality of the implementation of higher education tridarma in each study program and faculty in the context of accrediting study programs in the education sector. The orientation is not just a title, but really for the quality of education. In other words, the orientation is students.

“This time the one applying for accreditation is the study program at FBS. Everything must be seen so that it is truly of good quality starting from an academic, human resource, student, research, and study program development perspective," he said.
This accreditation, he continued, needs to be understood as a comprehensive effort by UNESA to achieve international recognition. Therefore, there needs to be effort and joint enthusiasm to improve the quality of research, publication and innovation. Suhartono, M.Pd., explained that the study program he leads has used a curriculum adapted to tracer studies, analysis of developments in demands in the field and developments and regulations that apply, especially Permendikbud Number 3 of 2020 concerning National Standards. “PBS Study Program adheres to 3 curricula, now we are still focusing on Indonesian and English,” he explained. prepare the necessary documents, complete administrative aspects, and prepare technical aspects in the field.
The forms of qualification that must be fulfilled are data, descriptions, and explanations presented in accordance with the instruments and guidelines for filling them out; adequate and valid data; technical aspects are met and facilitate data verification.

Kastam Syamsi said that the UNESA Language and Literature Doctoral Program in the past five years has continued to maintain its prestige as the holder of A accreditation. on the team's assessment results so far. The study program is already good and it should be a spirit to continue to improve it, considering that the dynamics of higher education are increasingly challenging.
Moreover, UNESA has become a PTN-BH which needs to be accompanied by adaptability and innovation. He suggested that S3 PBS continue to be consistent to maintain the quality of learning, including human resources, both lecturers and students.
According to him, ability problems should not stop. Human resources must continue to be improved. Even lecturers must continue to learn. You can't be satisfied with the existing capabilities, but that must be improved.
“The number of professors and doctorates also needs to be increased. Then, if possible, each discipline in the PBS Doctoral Study Program has its own curriculum. If the study program is multidisciplinary, then the curriculum is also multidisciplinary," added Rustono. [*]
