Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Surabaya State University (UNESA) has proven its commitment to creating an integrity zone or ZI in all work units. One of the things they did was hold a Workshop on Filling Out the Integrity Zone Evaluation Worksheet with the Directorate General of Higher Education and Technology at the Auditorium, Rectorate, Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Sulaksono, S.H., M.H., said that the 'House of Champions' campus is currently preparing all faculties, including vocational and postgraduate studies to establish an integrity zone.
“We are preparing a total of 10 faculties, even later all work units, , or UPT is prepared to become an integrity zone. In that context, we have formed a reform team at the university level and an integrity zone team at the faculty," he said.
The activity which consisted of two sessions presented a team from the Directorate General of Higher Education and Technology as resource persons. They are Mohamad Ali Akbar, S.E., M.B.A., and Alexsander Ari Ade Saputro, S.Tr.
Ali Akbar conveyed that the essence of bureaucratic reform at universities is the improvement of work and service systems. Bureaucratic reform is carried out in large units, while integrity zones are carried out in smaller units. The output of the integrity zone is the title towards a corruption-free area or WBK.
“In achieving this, there must be a bureaucratic reform team that handles bureaucratic reform at universities and an integrity zone team for each faculty. Of course, all parties must compete to improve governance,” he said.
After establishing the team, it is necessary to divide into 6 areas of integrity zone change, consisting of change management, management management, HR management system management, strengthening accountability for performance, strengthening supervision, and improving the quality of public services.
The focus of targets in the integrity zone, namely integrity, excellent public service, and capability. Apart from that, it is necessary to pay attention to forming an internal assessor team at UNESA. Establishing a zone of integrity is a shared responsibility and commitment.
“Before formulating a policy which will then become a program, we must know what the vision and mission of the university is. We hope that this September the declaration will begin, followed by the process of designing the integrity zone team work program, then the assessment stage will be carried out in the following year," he explained. and evaluation of integrity zones which are attended by representatives of faculties, directorates, institutions and work units. Bachtiar Syaiful Bachri, M.Pd., representing the chancellor, expressed his high hopes for the implementation of this activity.
“Higher education institutions should be more open and excellent in serving the community. The leadership hopes, after the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences (FISH) has created an integrity zone, all units at UNESA will also have an integrity zone," he said.
This workshop was attended by the Bureaucratic Reform team, the deans and deputy dean, director and deputy director and representatives of the Faculty Integrity Zone team. [*]
