
The UNESA English Language Study Program Team carries out PKM at UNESA 2 Labschool Elementary School Surabaya.
Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA–Surabaya State University (UNESA) through the English Language Education Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS) has once again demonstrated its commitment to improving the quality of education, especially in mastering English at the elementary school level.
Through In this Community Service Program (PKM), the English Language Education Undergraduate Study Program provides training in developing the English Speaking Club program for elementary school teachers at Labschool UNESA 2 Surabaya.
The English Speaking Club itself is a program that designed to support students' ability to speak English through interactive activities based on the national class program or NCP.
This PKM was initiated and implemented by the UNESA PKM team, namely Eva Rahmawati, Retno Wulan Dari, Suvi Akhiriyah, Wiwiet Eva Savitri, and Him'mawan Adi Nugroho.
This event was officially opened by Eva Rahmawati, as the PKM team leader. In her speech, she expressed her hope that this program would be the start of sustainable cooperation.
"We want to build students' confidence in using English in everyday life," she said.
Retno Wulan Dari said, this service was packaged in the form of delivering material including an introduction to four modules specifically designed to improve students' abilities.
The modules in question, (1) Explorer: Module for students in grades 1-3, focus on basic -basic English, (2) Adventurer: Module for students in grades 4-6 with more in-depth learning.
Next, (3) Spelling Bee: Buzzword and Spellbound: Preparation for students to take part in the Spelling Bee competition, (4) Story Telling: Practicing storytelling skills and preparation for the Story Telling competition.
"Each module is equipped with a syllabus, learning plan and comprehensive assessment, and we arrange it with a present, practice, production or PPP approach to build students' skills effectively. "gradually," explained Retno Wulan.
This activity was welcomed by the school. Even the head of SD Labschool UNESA 2 Surabaya, Hapsari Dewi and the teacher representative, Savira Cesarandari, fully supported and were involved in this activity. They hope that this activity will be the beginning of sustainable cooperation in the future.
The event closed with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Coordinator of the English Language Education Undergraduate Study Program, Him'mawan Adi Nugroho and the Head of SD Labschool UNESA 2, Hapsari Dewi, S.Pd., as a form of synergy between schools and universities.
This collaboration is expected to improve students' English language skills, and further strengthen the relationship between UNESA and SD Labschool in advancing education in Indonesia.[*]
