Unesa. AC ID. SURABAYA--In order to support the development of student creativity, Surabaya State University (UNESA) through the Directorate of Student and Alumni Affairs (Mawal) launched and socialized the 2024 Student Creativity Program League (PKM), on Saturday, September 7 2024.
Muhamad Sholeh, Director of Mawal, stated that the 2024 PKM League activities aim to introduce an internal competition program as well as to provide in-depth insight regarding PKM. Not only that, participants also receive material and strategies that have been proven successful at the national level.
"The speakers shared stories about their experiences in the PKM League and the strategies they implemented to create extraordinary innovations. With this, it is hoped that our students will be more ready to compete at the national level," he said.
The PKM League was initiated by the UNESA Mawal Directorate to prepare students to compete in PKM in 2025. Sholeh also underlined UNESA's achievements in this year's National Student Science Week (Pimnas), where eight teams from UNESA managed to qualify. at the national level.
According to him, Pimnas is one of the most prestigious competitions among students. This achievement shows how important PKM is in preparing students for future academic and professional challenges.
Students who successfully pass Pimnas tend to have greater opportunities to continue their careers after graduation and participate in the Student Achievement Election (Pilmapres).
"High reasoning power, which can be developed through appropriate methodology in PKM, is very important for academic and professional success in the future," he said.
Proud Achievements: Entered the National Top 13
The Head of Sub-Directorate for Reasoning, Talents and Interests explained a number of UNESA achievements and accomplishments from year to year which continue to increase significantly.
Yetty Septiani Mustar, Head of the Reasoning, Talent and Interest Sub-Directorate, said that this activity marked the start of the 2024 PKM League. This aims to provide initial encouragement for students in preparing their innovative works for next year's PKM.
UNESA student achievement statistics in 2023 shows very satisfying achievements, with 1,392 achievements at the national level and 320 at the international level. These figures are an indication of a significant and consistent increase since 2019.
"This increase reflects UNESA's progress and commitment in encouraging academic and non-academic achievements," he explained.
Yetty also highlighted UNESA's achievements in successfully entering the top 13 universities that qualified for the 37th National Pimnas in 2024. This activity will take place at Airlangga University in October 2024.
He hopes that through the 2024 PKM League, more teams will be able to achieve similar success and qualify for the 2025 Pimnas. This is because the PKM League is designed as an event to grow, accommodate and realize students' creative ideas and innovations in form of written work.
"Moreover, this program is intended for undergraduate, D-3 and D-4 students, and is expected to be an effective platform for honing students' skills and creativity which of course prepares them for future challenges," he concluded .[]
