The interviewee emphasized the important role of the protocol in the institution's important agenda.
Unesa.ac.id. , SURABAYA—Surabaya State University (UNESA) through the Subdirectorate of Management, Protocol and Archives held a socialization of protocol guidelines and training for the master of ceremony or MC with Jack Haryanto in the Auditorium, 6th floor, LPPM Building, Campus II Lidah Wetan, Thursday, October 3 2024.
Head of Sub-Directorate for Administration, Protocol and Archives, Naili Rahmah said, this activity aims to provide an understanding of the implementation of protocol activities in accordance with Chancellor's Regulation No. 23 of 2024.
"Friends are an institutional showcase where the public's assessment of UNESA can be seen from how you work at an event. Hopefully this opportunity can be utilized well for the future of UNESA," he said in the activity which was hosted by Hezron Sabar Rotua Tinambunan.
Chairman of the PTN-BH Indonesia Protocol Forum, Jack Haryanto said, protocol plays an important role in various important institutional events. Protocol is the creator of a pleasant and harmonious situation in activities. Therefore, they must understand three aspects, namely, place arrangements, ceremonial arrangements, and honors.
Place arrangements such as the arrangement of flags on the stage, flags on the table, the sitting position of officials when in a forum with two, three or more than that, and the order in the state banquet should be taken into account.
For example, when the UNESA chancellor entertains the chancellor from another campus to sign the MoU in conditions where there are two chairs, the UNESA chancellor is on the left and the chancellor of another campus is on the right.
"This will be different when the Unesa Chancellor entertains the dean of UGM, say, the Chancellor's position on the right. If the difference in position is clearly visible, then the rules are like that to respect his position," he explained.

This activity was attended by participants from various internal elements of UNESA.
Second about ceremonial arrangements. To ensure the ceremony runs smoothly, the assignment and person in charge of the ceremony needs to be determined first. Likewise with the seating arrangement for the guests.
"This seems trivial, but it needs to be conditioned so that the atmosphere of the ceremony continues to run solemnly. This also applies to conferences, visits or other events," he stressed.
p>The man who also serves as Protocol Coordinator at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) said that the third thing that needs to be paid attention to is respect. This is about etiquette in placing, referring to, and treating someone according to their position at an event.
He added that protocol requires being able to communicate well, maintaining the characteristics of stakeholders, and having a neat appearance. When there is something negative that could have an impact on an event, a protocol person must be able to convey it directly while giving a clear reason.
"Only experience can make an event even better. If there are no problems yet, "In fact, it is impossible for us to find a solution to apply in the future," he stressed.
Anggara Nugraha, one of the training participants, admitted that so far he only knows the basics about the position of flags for arranging them on stages or tables. "For sitting positions, I just found out that there are rules, according to the position and needs," he said.
After the socialization, the activity which was attended by the Deputy Chancellor for Division II of UNESA and attended by dozens of participants was continued with MC training. Participants get important provisions to become MCs who are not only competent, but also creative and innovative.[*]
