Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA— The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) and the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled "The Impact of the Movement Program National Mental Revolution (GNRM)” at Swiss-Belinn Airport Surabaya, on Monday, November 18 2024.
This event is part of a series of national research to evaluate the impact 10 years of GNRM implementation since it became part of President Joko Widodo's Nawacita program (2014-2024).
This discussion involved five pentahelix elements, namely from the government represented by Diah Yuliastuti from the High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) East Java and Ahmad Daya Prasetyo as Head of the National Unity Division of the National Unity and Politics Agency (Bakesbangpol) Surabaya City.
From media elements attended by Leak Kustiyo as Main Director of Jawa Pos Group. The business world element was attended by Ali Irsyad, Head of Investment and International Cooperation at BPC HIPMI Surabaya.
Furthermore, the academic element was attended by Listiyono Santoso from Airlangga University (Unair) and Irwan Dwi Arianto from the "Veteran" National Development University (UPNV) East Java, and religious figures attended by Haikal Zamzam Atiq as Deputy Secretary of PWNU Surabaya, as well as people from the villages of Watutulis Sidoarjo and student representatives.
In his speech, Deputy Chancellor III for Research, Innovation, Ranking, Publications and the UNESA Science Center, Bambang Sigit Widodo, explained the importance of this FGD to evaluate the impact of the GNRM program during the era of President Joko Widodo's leadership.
“The National Mental Revolution Movement program has had a positive impact in various fields, however "In-depth studies need to be carried out to understand the extent of its successes and challenges," he said.
Iman Pasu Marganda Hadiarto Purba, Coordinator of the UNESA National Movement for Mental Revolution Research Technical Team, explained that this activity was part of research to describe the impact and influence GNRM as a whole.
“We will process the data collected, both quantitative and qualitative, and present it in Jakarta to the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture. "It is hoped that the results of this research can provide practical suggestions for the new government, if this program continues," he explained.
In the discussion session, various views were expressed regarding the real impact of GNRM in various sectors. Diah Yuliastuti said that the prosecutor's office as a law enforcement agency plays an important role in supporting the government's mental revolution program.
"These efforts are carried out through various strategic steps aimed at improving integrity, professionalism, transparency and public services," he said.
Meanwhile, in the media, as stated by the Managing Director of the Jawa Pos Group, Leak Kustiyo, that developing a winning mentality is the only effective way to change society's paradigm in supporting mental revolution.
"Media reporting on government programs so far, apart from carrying out an informative function, is also educational, which is intended to foster a mental revolution in society," he said. [*]
