Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA—The leadership of the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the Educational and Cultural Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing in the Meeting Room, Rectorate Building, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, Surabaya on Monday, 19 February 2024.
This activity, which was attended by the ranks of deans, deputy deans and related sub-directorates, discussed Indonesia's international academic cooperation, especially the 'Home of Champions' campus with China, which is developing a human resource development scheme for industrial development. .
Chairman of the Board of Trustees (MWA), Prof. Dr. Haris Supratno, explained that the cooperation highlighted by UNESA in this collaboration was improving the human resources of UNESA students with global exposure balanced with skills for industrial development, especially in the context of preparing a golden Indonesia 2045.
Apart from that, he also conveyed related international certification program scheme in China and Indonesian language learning for Chinese speakers. "Of course this is a good step to give our students (UNESA, ed) the opportunity to gain global exposure," he said.
On that occasion, Yudil Chatim SKM., M.Ed, as Atdikbud at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing said, UNESA has a number of advantages, including having the Confucius Institute (CI) or better known as the Mandarin Language Center which provides opportunities for students to be directly involved in Mandarin language learning activities.
As well as UNESA which is PTN -BH and now being entrusted as Chair of the Indonesian Chancellors Forum is an added value that will be offered and promoted to 25 campuses in China. "It's like building a building, to reach the 5th floor, UNESA no longer needs to build the foundation and first floor like many campuses do," he said.
In this case, cooperation between Atdikbud in HR management for students from China in the D-4 and D-3 Vocational programs is an important step in building educational bridges between the two countries. With this collaboration, it is hoped that competent human resources will be created that are ready to compete internationally.
Sueb explained, S.Pd., M.Pd., Director of CI UNESA said that UNESA has long collaborated with Chinese institutions and government in various fields. Most recently, UNESA was seen in the cooperation scheme between Indonesia and China in the field of education.
< p>From this educational investment collaboration, there are several programs that will be realized in the near future, including the 3+1 international academic program which consists of cooperation on recognition of past learning or RPL/international transfer credit through the U-to-B cooperation route with Yuanli International Education.This 3+1 scheme cooperation means that Chinese students who have taken a diploma 3 education can continue their undergraduate equivalent studies at UNESA for 1 year. UNESA will calculate the conversion or credit recognition that has been obtained. taken in China and students will take the remaining credits at UNESA, including completion of the final assignment as a requirement for graduating.
"There are around dozens of study programs that are prepared to accept international students from China, especially study programs that have been very well accredited and international," said Sueb.
In this program, he continued, international students can also learn about culture and Indonesian language classes for Foreign Speakers (BIPA). Apart from that, there is also a field trip program that will bring students students to enjoy tourism in Surabaya and its surroundings.
"UNESA is ready to start this program in the even semester. "From the academic side, UNESA has been registered with official partner universities and is recognized at the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), Ministry of Education of China," explained Sueb.[]
