Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—More than one hundred participants among students and the general public from various regions took part in the UNESA Tennis Open 2024 which was held by UNESA Field Tennis UKM at the Tennis Court Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, Surabaya.
The activity, which took place from Thursday, 25 April 2024 and ended on Sunday, 28 April 2024, was enthusiastically welcomed by the participants who were fighting for the title of champion of the inaugural UNESA Field Tennis UKM competition.
"The sport of tennis is increasingly popular with various levels of society. So, we are preparing a competition to maintain people's interest in tennis and at the same time strengthen talent through competition," said Andan Prima Daffa as chief executive.
This competition is open so that the participants are students and the general public. In the student category, participants from eight universities such as Undip, Unnes, ITS, Unair, UPN, UNS, and Unej participated.
The participants competed in six events, including team men's singles, team men's doubles, team mixed doubles, individual men's doubles, individual women's doubles and individual mixed doubles.
Participants in the general category fall into two levels, namely intermediate which competes in women's doubles, and advance which competes in two numbers, namely men's doubles and women's doubles.
Daffa explained that this competition was focused on students, therefore there were a lot of competition numbers. This competition also prepares student athletes to welcome the ASEAN University Games or AUG 2024 in Surabaya and Malang (Suma).
"We would like to express our gratitude to all the participants who participated. We hope that this competition will further encourage us together to ground sports and strengthen talents to advance Indonesian sports. We hope that we can hold competitions like this again in the future," we hope. chairman of the UNESA Tennis UKM. []
