UNESA PKMPM Team with students from PGRI 1 Buduran Middle School, Sidoarjo
Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYAβCommunity Service Student Creativity Program Team ( PKMPM) Surabaya State University (Unesa) in 2024 introduced an innovation in learning wayang art through the Metasekerta game.
This team consists of five students, namely Khairunnisa' Nur Fadhilah from S1 Educational Technology, Cahyo Febri Wijaksono from S1 Education Management, Ailsa Anggun Tyas Saputri from Bachelor of Language and Javanese Education, Riski Ramadani from Bachelor of Physics, and Iqbal Izza Addaviqi from Bachelor of Information Engineering. They were accompanied by their supervisor, Aditya Chandra Setiawan, from the Bachelor of Education Management.
Concerns regarding the use of conventional media in learning wayang art which is less attractive to the younger generation, became the background for the creation of this innovation.
"Metasekerta is designed to utilize gamification technology to make learning more interesting and relevant. With this approach, we hope to increase students' interest in wayang art, this game can be downloaded on the Google Play Store since May 16 2024," said Cahyo as Chair Team .Metasekerta is designed to offer an exploration of the world of wayang in an interactive way, allowing students to learn about various wayang characters and their stories through play. The technical aspects of developing this game are focused on optimal user experience.
"We use the latest technology to ensure this game has attractive graphics and gameplay which is easy to understand, so it can be accessed by students from various backgrounds," he said.
Aditya Chandra Setiawan, the lecturer supervising the PKM PM team, expressed his pride in the work of the students he supervised. "This project is a real example of how technology can be used to introduce culture to the younger generation.
Metasekerta is proof that innovation in education is not only possible but can also have a big positive impact," he explained.
Metasekerta, an educational game designed by the PKM PM Unesa 2024 team, has been successfully implemented at PGRI 1 Buduran Middle School, Sidoarjo. The Metasekerta game is designed to overcome various limitations that exist in conventional learning media, such as limitations in terms of interactivity and visual appeal.
By using a gamification approach, this team hopes to create a more interesting and effective learning experience for participants didik.
"We hope that in the future the Metasekerta game can be widely used in other schools to introduce and preserve the art of wayang to the younger generation, as well as help them understand and appreciate Indonesian cultural values ββin a fun way and interactive.β he said.[]
