Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—Surabaya State University (Unesa) has once again demonstrated its commitment to developing national sports through the Community Service (PKM) program entitled "Biomechanics Analysis Training for Tennis Coaches and Athletes" in November 2024.
A program funded by PNBP Unesa was initiated by a research team from the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK) consisting of Muchamad Arif Al Ardha as team leader, together with Panji Bana, and Dani Primanata.
This training is motivated by the importance of understanding biomechanics in the sport of tennis. This sport demands technical precision, physical strength, and mature game strategies.
By applying the principles of biomechanics, coaches and athletes can increase the efficiency and effectiveness of movements, produce stronger blows, and minimize the risk of injury.
This is the main reason for holding this training, as an effort to improve the performance and career sustainability of tennis athletes in Surabaya.
This training integrates biomechanical theory and direct practice on the field. Participants are introduced to motion analysis technologies such as high-speed cameras and analysis software.
It aims to help coaches and athletes understand hitting technique, movement efficiency, and injury prevention strategies. The practical session is designed so that participants can immediately apply the theory they have learned.
This training is expected to produce output in the form of publications in online media and scientific journals. Furthermore, this training is expected to be able to improve the understanding and skills of coaches and athletes in analyzing movements, optimizing playing techniques, and reducing the risk of injury.
As a superior university, Unesa through the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) fully supports this program. With the vision of becoming a superior institution in the development of science and technology, Unesa is committed to implementing the tridharma of higher education, one of which is through community service.
The Biomechanics Analysis Training Program for Tennis Coaches and Athletes is a strategic step in developing the sport of tennis in Surabaya. By prioritizing a scientific and technological approach, it is hoped that coaches and athletes can achieve maximum performance and compete at the highest level while maintaining health and fitness.[*]
