New students who are residents of the UNESA dormitory receive many activities that support self-development, and strengthen students' academic and non-academic fields.
Unesa. AC ID. SURABAYA--In welcoming new students and new dorm residents, the Surabaya State University (UNESA) Dormitory Directorate held a socialization of the rules and regulations for dorm residents on Tuesday, August 27 2024.
This socialization was attended by the Director of Kolektus Dormitory Oky Ristanto and division heads. Head of the Business Management Agency (BPU), Mahendra Wardhana, welcomed the new residents of the UNESA dormitory. He hopes that the new residents will feel at home living in the UNESA dormitory.
"Later there will be various activities held, including character development activities designed to help students get out of their comfort zone," he explained.
Mahendra also explained that living in a dormitory provides an opportunity for students to learn to be leaders. By interacting with fellow residents who have different backgrounds, students will be invited to communicate more intensively and develop their leadership abilities.
The hope is that through meetings with students from various backgrounds, innovative ideas will emerge which can improve academic quality and enrich their experience while living in the dormitory.
Testa Adi Nugraha as Head of the Operations and Assets Division of the Dormitory Directorate, explained that student dormitories are designed as residences that not only support academic activities, but also plays a role in shaping students' character and soft skills.
The dormitory is expected to be a conducive environment for students to learn, develop personally, and prepare themselves to become strong professionals who care about the environment.
"The obligations of dormitory residents are not only limited to paying rent, but also maintaining security, order and comfort together," he said.
Testa emphasized the importance of complying with the rules that have been set to create a harmonious dormitory environment. General dormitory rules include compliance with all applicable regulations, starting from room assignments in accordance with the management's directions to the obligation to leave the dormitory at the end of the agreed occupancy period.
Apart from that, dormitory residents are also expected to maintain existing facilities. and use the resources provided wisely. In maintaining common courtesy and comfort, Testa also pays special attention to the dress code in the dormitory environment.
"Students are expected to always dress modestly when in the common areas of the dormitory. "For female residents, it is strictly forbidden to wear shorts or sleeveless clothing when outside their rooms," he concluded.
By following the rules that have been set, Testa hopes that dormitory residents can enjoy a positive and productive living experience at UNESA. Apart from that, students are expected to be able to develop innovative ideas and build networks that will be beneficial for their academic and career development in the future.[]
