
The presence of international students undergoing exchange programs is an opportunity to improve foreign language communication skills, insight and global networking for UNESA Labschool students. They are also active in introducing the rich culture of the archipelago to students from 'White Elephant Country' or 'White Elephant Country'
Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—The Sister School program run by UNESA Labschool not only takes the form of sending students to a number of countries, but also opens up opportunities for students from other countries to study in Indonesia.
This exchange program is currently being undertaken by four students from HatYai Wittayakarn School, Thailand, at UNESA Labschool High School from 4-15 November 2024.
The Head of UNESA 1 Surabaya Labschool High School, Dewi Purwanti, stated that during the program, the four students from Thailand took part in teaching and learning activities (KBM ) in class Indonesian-Thai culture.
During this program, the school also provided an introduction to Indonesian culture for Thai students. One of the activities carried out is inviting them to visit historical places in Surabaya.

This exchange program, sister school will be an annual and ongoing program to increase international recognition for the UNESA Labschool, and increasingly introduce Indonesian culture to the eyes of the world.
Just call it Peneleh's Tomb, Tugu Pahlawan, and Alun-alun Surabaya, which are part of the Out-of-Class Learning (PLK) program.
Not only that, they were also given the opportunity to learn Indonesian in daily conversations and were introduced to batik as a heritage Indonesian culture.
The arrival of Thai students at SMA Labschool UNESA 1 Surabaya is expected to have a positive impact on the school environment, especially in increasing students' sense of tolerance and communication skills.
"With the presence of students Thailand, our students can learn about cultural differences and their ways of learning during this time. "Apart from that, this program also opens up opportunities for our students to expand their network of friends to an international level," she said.
Furthermore, Dewi added that SMA Labschool Unesa 1 Surabaya plans to make this Sister School program an annual program or sustainable program, of course with support from Surabaya State University (UNESA), the Labschool School Development Agency (BPSL), and the Dharma WanitaSatu Foundation (DWP).
"We hope that this Sister School program can become a sustainable program and is mandatory at Labschool Unesa 1 High School. That way, our students can continue to benefit from this program and increase their international insight," he concluded.[*]
