Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—The National Potential Young Athletes Training Center (SLOMPN) continues to grow rapidly. Public interest, especially parents and children, is increasing, including at the Surabaya State University (UNESA) training center. This can be seen from the number of applicants and admissions from year to year.
In this year's admissions period alone, there were around 600 participants who registered, of which around 92 participants were then accepted after various series of strict selections. Of that number, 31 participants were placed at SLOMPN UNESA.
Before starting the training program, the young athletes accompanied by their parents signed an integrity pact at the Anti-Doping Laboratory, Lidah Wetan Campus II, on Wednesday, September 18 2024.
“At UNESA there are three sports that are focused on, namely swimming, taekwondo and badminton. "It is hoped that these athletes can make Indonesia proud on the international stage," said Oyong Yanuar Asmara, SLOMPN Team Leader, Assistant to the Sports Achievement Development Department, Deputy for Sports Achievement Improvement at the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The SLOMPN Team Leader provided guidance and encouragement to the athletes and parents during the integrity pact signing session.
Vice Chancellor II UNESA Law, Management, Finance, Resources and Business Sector, Bachtiar Syaiful Bachri said that young SLOMPN athletes are projected to win gold medals for Indonesia at the 2045 Olympics.
According to him, UNESA is one of the four universities which was chosen by the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports to be a training place for young athletes, who will later be targeted to become international scale athletes.
Apart from UNESA, there are also a number of other campuses that have become SLOMPN, such as the Indonesian Education University (UPI), Jakarta State University (UNJ), Yogyakarta State University (UNY), and Semarang State University (Unnes).
"Welcome to SLOMPN UNESA my children. This is a new chapter for you and for this nation in the future. In "Here you are trained who will later bring the name of the region at the national level, and the name of Indonesia at the world level, the Olympics," he said.
UNESA Vice Chancellor II motivates and conveys important messages so that The athletes remain serious, enthusiastic and focused on training. He also invited athletes to set targets for future competitions.
The Faculty of Education (FIP) lecturer advised the young athletes to really maximize the coaching program they have prepared. Stay focused on training and practicing. Look at in the future, take care of your health, and maintain good communication and relationships with fellow athletes and coaches.
Baiq Aisyah Hermawangwulan Ningtyas, a young swimming athlete from Jombang admitted that she was happy and happy to be able to join SLOMPN UNESA. "You can make your parents proud, you can improve your achievements even more in the future," said the 11-year-old athlete.
Before entering the UNESA training center, Baiq Aisyah trained hard so she could pass the selection and compete with participants from various other regions. . My parents' prayers and support are what made my struggle easier.
"After entering here, I still have a long way to go in the future," said the O2SN elementary school gold medalist at provincial level.
The same thing was expressed by swimming athlete from Bali, Ni Komang Triyana Rania Nareswari. He dreams of becoming a national athlete and admits that he is proud to be able to enter SLOMPN UNESA. “I am happy and proud because I can realize my achievements and dreams. "Hopefully I can give my best in the future," said the 12-year-old athlete.[]
