Unesa. AC ID. SURABAYA—Surabaya State University (UNESA) confirmed 16,827 new students at the 2024 Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at GRAHA UNESA, on Monday, 19 August 2024. In this way, new students have officially become UNESA youth garuda (guard) and ready to enter the world of education.
Tens of thousands of new students spread across various faculties attended the UNESA PKKMB entitled "Mahakarya Nusantara Harmoni in Hope and Aspiration." This year UNESA packages PKKMB in a different and impressive way.
The event began with a diversity parade featuring representatives from 38 provinces in traditional clothing from Ulos Batak to Javanese Kebaya, depicting the diversity of Indonesian culture united in harmony.
Next there is a series of stunning artistic performances, showcasing the rich culture of the archipelago. The show starts with the Gambyong Dance from Central Java, the Hornbill Dance from Kalimantan, and the Sajojo Dance from Papua.
The UNESA Chancellor wore the alma mater and shal or shawl to the two new UNESA student representatives, a symbol of inauguration.
Reog Ponorogo ends a series of dances with large masks and distinctive costumes. Appearing with stunning strength, it exudes a heroic aura that suggests struggle and independence.
PKKMB 2024 was officially opened with the beating of a gong by the Chancellor, followed by the appearance of the PKKMB mascots, Prita and Prito, which were inspired by the philosophy of the emprit bird, which has always been a characteristic or has colored the Chancellor's speeches at every opportunity. This bird was chosen as a symbol of adaptability, cooperation and simplicity that UNESA guards must have.
In his speech, the Chancellor of UNESA, Nurhasan, emphasized that the PKKMB is designed to be a vehicle for new students to get appropriate information about the education system in higher education, both academic and non-academic. "There must be no violence, there must be no bullying or hazing, PKKMB must guide and give direction to new students so they know the anatomy of studying at UNESA," he stressed.
He advised students to take advantage of the opportunity to study to strengthen four things. First, integrity includes honesty and discipline. Second, a brave mentality and a true learner. Third, strengthen your persistence to become better. Fourth, strengthen Sociopreneurship or entrepreneurial attitude.
Apart from Cak Hasan, UNESA freshmen also received motivation from the Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini who conveyed about future challenges, the importance of young people learning - being brave -out of the box, and provide motivation so that UNESA freshmen can become leaders of this nation in the future.
"When you return to your respective areas, make changes that are beneficial to society. I believe, students UNESA will be able to change the future of this nation and country to be better and more advanced. Therefore, study hard and achieve as much as possible, both in the academic and non-academic fields," he said.
UNESA Deputy Chancellor III reads the Chancellor's Decree regarding the Determination of UNESA New Students 2024.
Information, Meanwhile, data for UNESA freshmen in 2024 based on faculties, as stated by the Deputy Chancellor III for Research, Innovation, Ranking, Publications and Science Center, Bambang Sigit Widodo, is as follows.
First, the Faculty of Education (FIP) has 1,858 new students. Second, the Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS) has 2,059 new students. Third, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) has 1,646 new students. Fourth, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) has 1,839 new students.
Next, fifth, the Faculty of Engineering (FT) has 2,317 new students. Sixth, the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK) accepts 1,225 new students. Seventh, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) has 2,336 new students. Eighth, the Vocational Faculty has 1,285 new students. 
A number of stage acts with Indonesian nuances amazed the freshmen at PKKMB 2024.
Ninth, The Faculty of Medicine (FK) accepts 147 new students. Tenth, the Faculty of Psychology (FPsi) accepted 529 new students. Eleventh, the Faculty of Law (FH) accepts 512 new students. Twelfth, PSKDU Campus 5 Magetan, accepted 1,054 freshmen. and Thirteenth, the Postgraduate School accepts 20 new students.
"A total of 16,827 new UNESA students in 2024, determined in Surabaya on August 15 2024, the Chancellor of Surabaya State University signed Nurhasan," said Bambang Sigit Widodo when reading the UNESA Chancellor's Decree.
Apart from that, this year's UNESA PKKMB broke the MURI record and presented comedian Nopek Novian; and actor and model and presenter Annisa Putri Ayudya to share and provide motivation. Also, there was a stage performance from Tri Suaka, there were sponsorship sessions from a number of well-known companies such as Bank Mandiri, Wardah, Emina, and Kahf. [*]
