A healthy walk for the entire UNESA family kicks off the Education Month or Freedom of Learning Month on the
Unesa. ac.id., SURABAYA—In order to celebrate the Education Month or Freedom of Learning Month, Surabaya State University (UNESA) exhibited 2,192 works by students and lecturers in the Education Month Exhibition which took place at the Merdeka Laboratory (Lab Merdeka) Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, Surabaya on Saturday, May 4 2024.
The Education Month celebration in the context of National Education Day (Hardiknas) which falls on May 2 was initiated and held by the Faculty of Education (FIP).
There are various works and innovations displayed, ranging from interactive learning media to learning applications. It doesn't stop there, these products are distributed to schools and education offices so that they can be used to improve the quality of learning.

FIP Dean , Prof. Dr. Mochamad Nursalim, M.Sc., said that Education Month: Freedom of Learning Month will take place from 2-5 May 2024. This is not just a celebration, but also a reflection of the dedication and commitment of all parties in the world of education.
This agenda is the right moment to reflect on efforts to improve the quality of education and build a strong and competitive generation. "In the midst of the challenges faced, education is the main key in shaping the nation's future towards a Golden Indonesia 2045," he said.

The activity with the theme "Moving Together and Continuing Freedom of Learning" began with a healthy walk with the entire UNESA family. There were also entertainment performances, culinary bazaars and door prize distribution.
In this exhibition, the work displayed supports the achievements of UNESA's IKU-2 and IKU-3 regarding the work of students and supervisors. Apart from exhibitions, the series of education months also has a scientific platform as a forum for professors to present their ideas and innovations as solutions to current educational challenges.

On the side There are scientific seminars, both national and international, focus group discussions or FGDs, as well as various competitions held by each study program and student organization. He also invited us to work together to realize education that is inclusive, collaborative and oriented towards the holistic development of each individual. Education month must be a momentum for the downstream work of students so that it can be used directly and have an impact on the world of education and society.

The Chair of the UNESA Board of Trustees provided reinforcement regarding meaning of education month or free learning month.
In his speech , Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. Haris Supratno conveyed the meaning of national education and freedom of learning for the progress of a nation and state. For him, this commemoration of education month strengthens the meaning of education as an important foundation for building superior human resources.
"It is with education that we can improve the future of the nation, not only from an economic perspective, but it must start from improving the quality of human resources. "We hope that all parties, central and regional governments, will continue to pay attention to education and human resource development," he said.
Innovative Applications
One of the innovations that attracted the attention of visitors namely the GuruKu application, the work of Bachelor of Education Management students class of 2021. Sofi Yulia Rakhmawati as team leader revealed this application as a forum for students to improve their teaching skills.

"Innovation "to improve teaching skills and provide additional income for students. By using this application, it will be easier for students to find academic and non-academic tutors. Learning can be done online or offline," he said the work of PGSD students, namely card-based learning media created by Annas Sholihin class of 2020. This work was developed as a form of cultural preservation and local wisdom, such as the Madurese Sapi Karapan.
"This media is flexible in the form of cards integrated with concrete media for visual interaction in a Cartesian table and digital QR-Code," said the final year PGSD student.
The activity, which was also coupled with the signing of an MoA between UNESA and a number of partners, was attended by UNESA leadership, starting from the Board of Trustees (MWA), University Academic Senate (SAU), vice-chancellors, deans, directors and heads of institutions, lecturers and students within UNESA.(*)
