Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—Dozens of participants underwent the Winter Camp program which took place in two major Chinese cities, namely Wuhan and Shanghai on 7-21 December 2023. This activity was managed by the UNESA Confucius Institute in collaboration with Central China Normal University (CCNU) and sponsored by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) Beijing.
This activity, which aims to open up learning opportunities to increase experience and improve participants' Mandarin language skills, focuses on the 'intensity' and 'immersive' models which are designed in such a way , so that the participants involved are able to understand and master Mandarin in a practical way and without hesitation to interact directly with Chinese culture.
The series of activities carried out throughout December 2023 in this program include campus tour< /em> (archives and AI National Lab), visit the Hubei Provincial Museum, Yellow Crane Tower, and Bridge Tower of Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge.
Then there are paper cutting, paper folding, traditional Chinese activities em> painting, martial arts, watch peking opera, overview of modern China, Chinese em> calligraphy, Chinese pronunciation, and exploring Zhujiajiao Ancient Town.
There is also a visit to the Sinan Mansions and Old Foreign Concessions of Shanghai, Shanghai Disneyland Resort, Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Yu Garden, TownGod's Temple of Shanghai, and Nanjing Road Walkway.
Apart from that, participants also took a night cruise on the Huangpu River, also explored the Shanghai Natural History Museum, and Shanghai Astronomy Museum.
The program supported by CLEC Beijing was attended by thirty-nine participants consisting of 35 general participants, 3 field assistant lecturers accompanied by the director.
The general participants consisted of ten UNESA students and Confucius Institute partners from middle school, high school, other tertiary institutions and alumni.
Furthermore, the Director of CI UNESA, Sueb, S.Pd., M.Pd., said that CI as one of the institutions that has a central role in supporting the internationalization of agencies should be actively involved in international cooperation programs.
Some of them are by implementation efforts regarding the management of Mandarin language learning, active in supporting IKU student and lecturer exchanges in China through several cultural programs, and active in supporting international Chinese language classes.[*]
