UNESA Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., appreciated the research and community service or PKM achievements achieved by the
Unesa. ac.id., SURABAYA—May 31 2024 is a special day for Surabaya State University (UNESA), because many UNESA lecturers' research and community service (PKM) proposals have passed the national competition at the Directorate of Research, Technology and Community Service (DRTPM) Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia in 2024.
According to the Head of the UNESA Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Turhan Yani, MA, to qualify for research funding and PKM at DRTPM the competition is very tight because there are thousands of proposals submitted to DRTPM from all universities in Indonesia, both public and private.
In addition, at the selection stage It is also very strict because it goes through the proposal evaluation desk (administrative stage) by DRTPM, then continues with the selection of proposal substance by 3 reviewers, a combination of national reviewers assigned by DRTPM and those assigned by universities.
All assigned reviewers have fulfill the requirements as determined by DRTPM. According to Prof. Turhan, this is encouraging and happy news for UNESA as a Legal Entity State University (PTNBH), especially for the achievement of main performance indicators or IKU 3 and 5.
On a different occasion, UNESA Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan welcomed and appreciated this achievement. According to Cak Hasan, nicknamed the Chancellor of UNESA, this achievement must be maintained and strived to increase again in the following year, so that it becomes an academic culture at UNESA.
Furthermore, according to Prof. Turhan in the last 3 years (2022, 2023, 2024) achievements research and PKM achieved by UNESA in the competition at DRTPM has increased significantly, in 2022 the number of proposals funded by DRTPM will be 26 research proposals and 7 PKM proposals.

Year 2023 increased significantly to 43 research proposals and 9 PKM proposals, and in 2024 it will increase even more significantly to 117 research proposals and 13 PKM proposals, or a total of 130 proposals.
This significant achievement cannot be separated from the efforts of LPPM which has prepared well mature and measurable welcoming of the national DRTPM competition through series of workshops and coaching clinic proposals by bringing in the Director of DRTPM, Ministry of Education and Culture, Prof. Faiz Syuaib and several national DRTPM reviewers who have experience in various fields/classes of knowledge in the previous year.
Via telephone connections conveyed to the Head of LPPM, UNESA Chancellor Cak Hasan hopes that this activity needs to be developed further by involving more lecturer participants so that it becomes an academic culture to strengthen UNESA PTNBH through research and competitive PKM funded by DRTPM, even other parties, including other Ministries, Bakesbang in cities/districts and provinces.
In response to the direction of the Chancellor of UNESA, to welcome the 2025 DRTPM competition and other research opportunities, the Head of LPPM, Prof. Turhan rescheduled a series of workshops and coaching clinic proposals such as previous year.
Prof Turhan hopes that every faculty and study program will prepare a proposal team for the 2025 DRTPM competition, in addition to the UNESA internal non-APBN competition, then the team will be required to take part in a proposal camp/workshop and coaching clinic at LPPM with national reviewers DRTPM. This activity is scheduled for LPPM in August or October 2024.[]
