Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA—Selection for NUDC (National University Debating Championship) and KDMI (Indonesian Student Debate Competition) 2024 at the Surabaya State University (UNESA) level, attended by 16 faculty representative teams each in the Auditorium, 11th floor, Rectorate Building, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan on Tuesday-Wednesday, 2-3 April 2024.
Sueb, S.Pd., M.Pd., Trustee of the UNESA Debating Union said that the NUDC and KDMI 2024 at the university level was a series with the NUDC and KDMI at the national level which was organized by the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI), National Achievement Center (Puspresnas), Ministry of Education and Culture.< /p>
The selection is carried out in stages, starting from socialization at the study program (prodi) and faculty levels. The results of the selection at the faculty level then compete at the university level.
The university level competition was attended by 16 representative teams from each faculty around UNESA. Each faculty sends their 2 best teams to win the best position at the university level. The two debaters who enter as champions at the university level will represent the 'Home of Champions' campus at regional and national levels.
One of the 2024 UNESA Indonesian Student Debate Competition (KDMI) teams convey his arguments to the expectations of the other teams and the jury.
“From "It is hoped that this selection will have one of the best teams representing UNESA who will compete at regional and national levels which is planned to be held in May and June," he hoped.
This debate competition has a number of benefits. Firstly, as a process of selecting outstanding students in the field of debate, because KDMI and NUDC are regular competitions organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture through Puspresnas.
Secondly, training and improving students' academic and non-academic abilities because this competition is directly related to leadership, critical thinking, communication, and so on.
The man who leads the UNESA Confucius Institute hopes that, with this competition, debate will not only be a routine competition, but also for the daily life of the academic community. In other words, debate cannot be separated from the academic atmosphere at UNESA.
Yetty Septiani Mustar, S .KM., M.P.H., Head of Sub-Directorate for Interests, Talents, Competencies and Reasoning at UNESA said that by the time the final round of activities had arrived, it was hoped that all finalists who were representatives of all faculties could continue to develop debate activities and be able to take part in various other debate competition activities, both in regional, national and international levels.
"Students who take part in these activities can apply for funding at the Directorate of Student and Alumni Affairs to receive assistance with registration or accommodation costs which can be allocated as a whole according to the ceiling," he said.
p>Students who have the ability or talent in the field of debate are provided with continuous coaching, mentoring and funding. He hopes that this competition can spur creativity, innovation and enthusiasm for work as well as achievements in the field of student debate competitions.
The NUDC winning team takes a photo with the jury, supervisory lecturers and officials related to UNESA environment.
"Hopefully this competition will become a field for rewards and gaining knowledge, increasing abilities for students. The spirit of work and achievement for UNESA One Step Ahead," he said.
After selection, the 2024 NUDC at UNESA level brought together three the best team in the final round. As a result, 3rd place was won by Deandra Putri Febrianti and Mohammad Naufal Hilmy. 2nd place went to Muhammad Arya Barizi and Delon Arjuna.
And, 1st place went to Muhammad Axel Radityoadji and Ahmad Fahmi. Meanwhile, Muhammad Axel Radityoadji won as the best speaker.
Based on the results of the final round of KDMI 2024 at UNESA level, the FISIPOL- (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences) team won 3rd place. The FBS-A (Faculty of Languages and Arts) won 2nd place. And, the FT (Faculty of Engineering) team took 1st place. The title of best speaker went to Stefanny Florencia Elman from FBS-A. []
