Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA–The peak night of the 2024 Ramadan Carnival at Surabaya State University (UNESA) in the Rectorate Yard, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan , Surabaya on Thursday, March 28 2024 was marked by various series of activities. There were fashion shows, exhibitions, da'wah-tahfidz competitions, musical performances and the one that attracted the most attention was Impersonate Cak Hasan.
Impersonate Cak Hasan is a competition to imitate the distinctive style inherent in UNESA Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., both from clothing style, speaking style to walking style. This competition was not only attended by students, but also lecturers around the 'Home of Champions' campus.
A similar competition was witnessed directly by Cak Hasan. Meanwhile, the jury is directly led by his wife, Hj. Endah Purnomowati Nurhasan, M.Pd., who is the head of UNESA's Dharma Wanita PBB.
Apart from that, the assessment was also carried out by the deans and directors of the 'One Step Ahead' campus... When the competition started , one by one the participants who were ready from the start immediately showed their resemblance to Cak Hasan.
Each participant appeared in his/her mixed shoes, aka different colored shoes, jeans, jacket and Cak Hasan's signature hat. Apart from that, he also imitates the style of taking a photo by folding his arms in front of his chest, his hands clenched into fists and one step forward (holding up his index finger symbolizing the number 1).
UNESA Chancellor Cak Hasan together with the Dean of FIKK Dr. Dwi Cahyo Kartiko, S.Pd., M.Kes., (white hat), Deputy Chancellor for Field 1 Prof. Dr. Madlazim, M.Si., (batik), and Academic Director Dr. Muhamad Sholeh , M.Pd., (far right) watching Impersonate participant Cak Hasan.
Participant efforts on stage inviting admiration and laughter at the same time from hundreds of pairs of eyes directed at them. Of the many participants, the three best were declared winners and received prizes which were handed over directly to the Chancellor's wife, Endah Purnomowati Nurhasan.
Prof. Madlazim, Deputy Chancellor for Division 1, and Director of Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Muhamad Sholeh, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Academic Director Prof. Dr. Fida Rachmadiarti, M.Pd.
Cak Hasan appreciated the efforts shown by the participants. According to him, everyone has a style according to their comfort and value. For the Chancellor of UNESA, the style that is always shown on every occasion, such as mixed shoes, for example, is not without meaning.
Two pairs of shoes are like life which depicts cooperation and synergy to achieve the intended direction. Two pairs of shoes always complement each other, one pair supports the right foot and the other supports the left foot. Both have the same function in different positions, namely both stepping and supporting each other.
The different colored shoes worn by Cak Hasan symbolize diversity or diversity which should be equally upheld and addressed well in everyday life -a day. It is with unity in diversity that can make the Indonesian people and nation a developed and superior country.
“I am proud to wear diverse shoes on various occasions, even when invited by President Jokowi to the State Palace. I mean, these mixed shoes are a reminder and an invitation to ourselves about our diversity. "Our diversity is too expensive, that's why we need to look after it and look after it together for the Republic of Indonesia," he said.
This Ramadan Carnival activity was attended by the chancellor and his wife along with the entire ranks of vice chancellors, deans and deputy deans, directors and heads of sub-directorates, lecturers and students around the 'Home of Champions' campus as well as the surrounding community. This activity not only educates and entertains campus residents, but also local residents. []
