Indonesia and Malaysia battle strategies in the deciding match for the semi-finals of the AUG XXI 2024 Futsal sport at the FIKK UNESA Futsal GOR.

SURABAYA–The Indonesian Futsal Team managed to take a 3-2 lead over Malaysia on the second day of the 2024 Asean University Games (AUG) which took place at the UNESA International Futsal GOR on Thursday, 27 June 2024. The victory over the Malayan Tiger team ensured that Indonesia advanced to the semifinals.
Malaysia surprised Indonesia after quickly taking the lead in the 2nd minute of the match. The goal scored by M Haikal left Indonesia 1-0 behind. However, after a few minutes, Indonesia managed to equalize through Dewa Rizki Amanda's kick. The position changed to 1-1.
The match is getting more and more exciting. Both teams exchanged attacks. In the 10th minute, Indonesia managed to double its lead to 2 – 1 through Muhammad Agung Pandega's foot from a narrow gap.
In the 17th minute, Indonesia scored another third goal through a free kick executed by Brandyca Piola . Until the first half ended the temporary score remained 3 – 1.
In the second half, the tension of the game was higher. Both teams have not managed to add goals. Three minutes before the end of the match, the Malaysian team managed to reduce the goal difference through Daffa Azzurri's own goal in the 39th minute. The 3-2 score lasted until the referee blew the long whistle.
Mohammad Riyoga, assistant coach of the Indonesian team, said that the match against Malaysia was a challenge in itself for Indonesia.
Even though Garuda Muda managed to win, there are several records that need to be addressed. "Earlier there were things that needed to be improved, such as communication between players, and our defenders were careless," he said.
The captain of the Indonesian team, Dewa Rizki Amanda, said that in the future we will focus on giving the best performance in the semi-final match. . "We as players will work hard and pray of course, let the coach evaluate," he said.
Rizki said that his team was physically drained after playing two days in a row with tough opponents. "We will take advantage of one day of rest before the semi-final match," he said.[]
