Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Surabaya State University (UNESA) students from the State Administration Science Study Program Student Association carry out community service activities aimed at increasing awareness of the environment.
This activity is one of the work programs of the Department of Social and Community Affairs, HMP State Administration Science, UNESA with the theme "HMP IAN Real Action: Together to Protect the Environment, Towards a Healthy and Sustainable Earth" on 12-13 June 2024 at Sepulu Village, District. Sepulu, Kab. Bangkalan.
This activity aims to provide education about environmental issues as well as concrete actions to reduce negative impacts on the environment. In this community service activity, students invite the community, including the young generation in Sepulu Village, to protect the surrounding environment.
This activity began with a series of education that discussed various topics related to environmental conservation, followed by direct action by students and the community, they worked together to carry out this activity and the village government also took part in this activity.
Apart from that, students from the Public Administration Study Program Student Association also provided education in the Sepulu Village Elementary School environment and invited children to get involved in environmental clean-up activities. Through this activity, students played an active role in making direct contributions to village problems and succeeded in establishing good relations with the surrounding community.
This activity was well received by the local community, who showed high enthusiasm in participating. Many residents were inspired to pay more attention to environmental cleanliness and implement environmentally friendly practices in their daily lives.
Misbahul Munir, chief executive, said that this activity was very useful and had a positive impact on students and the community especially the younger generation there, by raising awareness of the surrounding environment and practicing environmental care habits starting from throwing rubbish in the right place.
The village government and local community stated that the main problem in the village was the lack of rubbish storage and students providing bins. rubbish in several village areas.
Even though the impact is not yet significant, this program provides benefits to the community in protecting the environment and increasing students' understanding and experience in social contributions. In the future, it is hoped that students can work together with related agencies to handle this problem in more depth.[]
