This activity was held at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia, which is a campus in the Top 20 QS World.
This activity brought together experts and leaders from both institutions to discussing strategies for implementing an SDGs-based curriculum which is expected to be able to support improving the quality of education at UNESA.
UNESA Director of Educational Transformation and Learning Technology, Fida Rachmadiarti explained that the SDGs-based curriculum is designed to equip students to face global challenges, such as climate change and social injustice.
According to him, understanding sustainability will help students become leaders who are able to bring positive change to society.
This view is also supported by Widowati Budijastuti, Director of the UNESA Quality Assurance Agency, who emphasized the importance of ensuring that the new curriculum is relevant to international standards so that UNESA graduates can compete at the global level.
"This workshop is an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between UNESA and UNSW in the fields of research, student exchanges and the development of sustainability-oriented teaching modules," said Widowati.

This workshop resulted in a number of strategic plans in the form of collaboration on module creation, exchanges, as well as research and publication in reputable journals.
On the same occasion, UNSW provide full support to this initiative. Karin Sanders, Senior Deputy Dean, Research and Enterprise UNSW stated that sustainability-based education is an important investment for the future.
This support was also expressed by Louise Fitzgerald from UNSW, who believes that the implementation of international standards can increase UNESA's competitiveness at the global level.
This workshop produced a number of strategic plans, including the preparation of SDGs-based teaching modules, development of sustainability-based projects, international research collaboration, and student exchange programs.
A continuous evaluation system is also designed to ensure that the curriculum remains relevant and effective in responding to current needs.
With this collaboration, UNESA is expected to strengthen its reputation as a higher education institution committed to sustainability and social responsibility.
As a first step, the results of the workshop will be translated into joint publications in international journals and conferences involving UNSW lecturers as speakers.
It is hoped that these steps will not only improve the quality of education at UNESA, but also give birth to a generation of future leaders who are responsible and visionary.[*]
