
Focus Group Discussion regarding UNESA and UPI webometrics best practices.
Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—The Surabaya State University (UNESA) Webometrics Team led by its chairman, Muhammad Abdul Ghofur, visited the Indonesian Education University (UPI) on Monday, November 25 2024 as a form of commitment to strengthening UNESA's webometrics ranking.
"UPI is one of the universities that consistently ranks in the top 15 nationally in the last 3 to 4 years, therefore we want to learn their best practices," said the lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UNESA.
Webometrics is an international ranking initiated by Cybermetrics Lab, a research group that is part of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain.
This ranking measures the performance of an institution based on three main indicators, namely visibility (50%), openness (10%), and excellence(40%). Visibility is measured based on the impact of content on the institution's website, openness is assessed based on the number of citations from the top 310 authors based on profile < em>Google Scholar-, and excellence data obtained from the number of top cited papers.
“UNESA is currently ranked 27th nationally, we need to improve it through various efforts, one of which is by studying at a university ranked above us," said Bambang Sigit Widodo, Deputy Chancellor III for Research, Innovation, Ranking, Scientific Publications and Science Center UNESA when giving directions regarding the importance of studying. from the experiences of other institutions to the UNESA webometrics team.
UPI Deputy Chancellor for Education and Student Affairs, Didi Sukyadi welcomed the presence of the UNESA delegation in the teleconference room, University Center. Information about Webometrics best practices that have been carried out since 2010 was then conveyed by the Director of Information Systems and Technology (STI), Cepi Riyana.
According to Cepi Riyana, efforts to improve UPI's webometrics ranking generally include several parts, namely support and content from the UPI community, tools and technique which is managed by the STI Directorate, and policyfrom university leaders.
Head of Sub-Directorate for Rankings and Implementation of UNESA Rankings, Sri Setyo Iriani, conveyed, there is much that can be learned from what has been conveyed from UPI.
