More than one hundred UNESA lecturers attended the research proposal and PKM coaching clinic with a number of experts from various leading universities.
Unesa. ac.id, SURABAYA–The Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of Surabaya State University (UNESA) again held a Coaching Clinic Research and Community Service Proposal (PKM) DRTPM Funds and Patent Drafting at Harris Hotel and Conventions , on Wednesday, 28 August 2024.
This event was attended by around 180 UNESA lecturers. Apart from that, several resource persons from HKI (Intellectual Property Rights), various experts in their respective research fields, as well as national reviewers from DRTPM (Directorate of Research, Technology and Community Service).
The event was opened by the Deputy Chancellor II for Law, Management, Finance, Resources and Business, Bachtiar Syaiful Bachri, who emphasized the importance of proposal preparation training to prepare for the national competition, namely DRTPM research funding in 2025.
Activities include UNESA's preparations to welcome the prestigious competition at the national level. The output of this activity is the emergence of quality proposals that can be accepted and qualify for DRTPM funding next year.
UNESA Deputy Chancellor II emphasized the urgency of this activity to strengthen UNESA research and publications.

Head of LPPM, Muhammad Turhan Yani, explained that this activity was a form of UNESA's commitment to continue to support students. lecturers in conducting research and research so that more proposals will be funded in the DRTPM funding competition in 2025.
"Last year around 150 research proposals from UNESA passed national level funding, the hope is that from 180 lecturers "Those who attend can develop their proposals to be of higher quality and all of them pass," explained the UNESA professor.
The Head of UNESA LPPM has set a target so that UNESA research funding achievements in the ministry can continue to increase.
This activity is also a career support for lecturers at UNESA, because the additional requirements to become a professor apart from publications in reputable journals, also have additional special requirements, one of which is passing funding research through national competitions via DRTPM or BRIN (National Research and Innovation Agency).
In the material session, Nani Nuraeny from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property explained about drafting patent specifications. There are a number of important steps in designing a patent description that covers the background of the invention, the problem being solved, and the technical superiority of the resulting innovation.

Next, Wisnu Nurcahyo, professor at Gadjah Mada University provided guidance on how to design an effective PKM program, starting from identifying relevant problems in society, preparing action plans, to evaluating the impact of the program.
“Community service programs in academic universities must be designed with a mature and sustainable strategy, so that the benefits can be felt directly by the community. This is also a reflection of the active role of universities in social and development economics," he explained.
This activity was packaged in various mentoring groups filled by experts, Ada Siti Zubaidah, a professor from the State University of Malang who discussed strategies for preparing educational research proposals, including identifying current issues and appropriate methods.
There was also a special social humanities session with Sri Rum Giyarsih, professor from Gadjah Mada University who emphasized the importance of understanding social dynamics and the relationship between research and community needs.
Meanwhile together with Ahmad Taufiq, professor from the State University of Malang, providing guidance on innovative techniques in scientific research and the application of innovation to solve society's problems.[]
