Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Dharma Wanita Perempuan (DWP), Surabaya State University (UNESA) held a webinar on strengthening the role of organizations for campuses in the Meeting Room, 10th Floor, Rectorate, Lidah Wetan Campus, Surabaya on Tuesday, September 19 2023. This activity with the theme "Dharma Women Unity as Friends of the Campus" is an offering from the DWP Faculty of Engineering (FT) in the context of UNESA's 59th Anniversary.
Chairman of the UNESA DWP, Hj. Endah Purnomowati Nurhasan, M.Pd., said, this activity is in line with the duties and mandate of the parent DWP, the Ministry of Education and Culture, which emphasizes the active role of DWP in supporting campus programs such as preventing and handling sexual violence, bullying and others.
" Primarily, we can support and protect students from things that could threaten their studies and their future. Our job is to ensure their learning environment is safe and comfortable. "We can't do it alone, of course we need to strengthen collaboration," he said.
The activity committee invited Prof. Dr. Mutimmatul Faidah, S.Ag., M.Ag., Director of Prevention and Management of Strategic Issues at the UNESA Campus as speaker. He conveyed about 'Optimizing the Role of DWP as a Friend of the Campus'. According to him, there are several roles for DWP as a campus friend.
First, strengthening family resilience. In other words, the support system for campus life starts from the family environment. The DWP team must be able to manage family problems and achieve prosperity at home, both from material and mental aspects. The essence of all this is maintaining communication.

Second, as a student mother. DWP mothers can basically become the mothers of students, a place for them to share stories and vent various pressures from college or their relationships. In order for the relationship between students and their parents to be established on this campus, a bridge is needed that brings them closer together, this could be in the form of joint events and so on.
“Our job is to ensure that students can study properly and comfortably. So, they need to be supported by all parties, their friends, their lecturers, even the DWP ladies. We create a supportive environment for them. When there is closeness, they will feel like they have a place to share their complaints. "This includes prevention strategies so that they don't fall into the wrong story," he explained.
If the environment is not strengthened, students could be trapped in unsupportive relationships or even sexual violence that could occur directly. or virtually via social media. DWP's closeness to students so that they have awareness to anticipate things that are undesirable to them.
Third, the role of another mother's friend. Of course, said Mutimmatul Faidah, fellow DWP administrators and members must be able to strengthen each other both morally and materially. In other words, fellow DWP mothers must look after and protect each other from unwanted things; violence, bullying and other negative things.
“UNESA DWP Mother can be a campus friend by accompanying students, being a place to confide in, a second mother and a comfortable home for students. "Later, Mrs. DWP will play a role as a volunteer for students and undergo special training," he explained. [*]
