Guided by the resource person, students participating in the workshop conducted a photo shoot to practice the material obtained.
Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Fujifilm and UKM Photography Activities (AFO) Surabaya State University (UNESA) held a Workshop: Portrait Photography for E-Commerce with the theme "Make Profit from a Great Photo” on Friday, June 14 2024 at the Psychology Building Auditorium, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan.
Moch. Rizky Satrio, better known as Mochtret, was the main speaker in this workshop, Mochtret, a professional photographer with an impressive portfolio, shared valuable knowledge and experience regarding portrait photography specifically for e-commerce.
This workshop was even more interesting with the presence of Zara Mano, a professional model. who has been involved in the fashion world for a long time. Zara's presence gave participants the opportunity to directly practice photography techniques with experienced models.
In his material session, Mochtret shared seven key tips for producing stunning portrait photos with high selling value. . The first tip is diffuse your light source, using diffusion to make the light softer and more even, and aiming to avoid sharp shadows.
Then, use a longer lens , choose a lens with a longer focal length to get better portrait results and isolate the subject from the background. Then, find a different position, which functions to explore unusual shooting angles to create unique and interesting photos.
The fourth tip is bring your own lighting , i.e. photographers must bring their own lighting equipment for complete control over the lighting and mood of the photo. Next, alter the aperture, which allows photographers to play with the lens aperture to get dramatic depth of field effects and selective focus.
Next there is >try props, which requires the photographer to use props to add story elements and visual interest to the photo. Then in the last tip there is finish with editing which uses the editing process to perfect the photo, starting from color correction to retouching details.
To confirm the theory what is delivered can be put into practice immediately, the committee provides three mini studios complete with professional lighting equipment. Participants were given the opportunity to try the techniques taught with direct guidance from Mochtret.
For participants who did not bring a camera, the committee provided a Fujifilm camera to borrow, so that all participants could be actively involved without any problems.
One of the inspiring moments in this workshop was when Mochtret said, "Besides we need a good device, we also need a good idea, because ideas are more expensive than the device itself .” This statement emphasizes the importance of creativity and innovation in photography, in addition to the use of sophisticated equipment.
This workshop not only provides technical knowledge, but also opens up participants' insight into how good portrait photography can improve the visual quality of products in e-commerce. -commerce, which in turn can increase sales and profits.
Participants who attended felt they had gained a lot of new knowledge and inspiration to develop their business through more professional photography.[]
