Unesa. ac.id, SURABAYA—The Faculty of Law, State University of Surabaya (FH UNESA) is collaborating with the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi) of Surabaya City to support Legal Aid Posts (Posbankum) in 1,368 Surabaya RW Halls which were launched by the Surabaya City Government at the end of May 2024.
The Dean of FH UNESA, Arinto Nugroho, S.Pd., S.H., M.H., said that in order to make the Legal Aid Post a success, the Surabaya City Government and Peradi Surabaya are collaborating with the law faculties of a number of universities, one of which is UNESA.
"FH UNESA prepared and sent 200 students to this activity, and at each post they worked side by side with advocates to open legal consultation services and legal assistance for underprivileged people," he said.Chairman DPC Peradi Surabaya, Hariyanto, said that the Legal Aid Post at the RW Hall would help the principle of equality and opportunities to obtain legal aid for people in need.
This program is an effort to provide guaranteed rights to legal equality to the community. "This is an extraordinary effort from the city government to the residents. Therefore, the effort to establish Legal Aid Posts simultaneously in 1,368 RWs is recorded as a MURI record," he said as quoted from the Surabaya City Government website.
The Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, expressed his thanks to various parties and universities who are ready to contribute in building and implementing the legal aid program.
"Later, Peradi's friends together with law students will be present at each RW Hall to help residents who need consultation or legal assistance," he said.
Apart from that, the Legal Aid Post launched by the Surabaya City Government recorded a MURI Record as a gift for the 731st Anniversary of the City of Surabaya which was commemorated at Taman Surya, Surabaya City Hall on Friday, May 31, 2024.
This ceremony was enlivened by collaborative arts and culture performances, the handing over of 272 award certificates, and the simultaneous launching of Legal Aid Posts at 1,368 Balai RW Surabaya.[]
