Rayyan Nur Fauzan not only succeeded in holding the title, but also made happy smiles for his parents or family through the proud achievements he achieved.
Unesa. AC ID. SURABAYA—A total of 1,552 graduates of the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) looked relieved and happy undergoing the toga ponytail transfer procession at the 111th Graduation Ceremony at GRAHA UNESA, Campus II Lidah Wetan, Surabaya, on Tuesday, August 20 2024.
The graduates had different learning journeys and experiences, some graduated with a final assignment in the form of a thesis, there were also those whose final assignment was not in the form of a thesis, such as Rayyan Nur Fauzan.
The best graduates from the Informatics Engineering Bachelor's Study Program, Faculty of Engineering (FT) did not go through a thesis, but chose a final assignment scheme in another form, namely innovation and achievement which were converted into final assignment grades.
One of the innovations he made was a prototype of a GPS sensor-based autonomous fast boat. This innovation helped bring the UNESA team to win the prestigious Indonesian robot competition, namely the Indonesian Robot Competition (KRI).
"In 2021, my team and I created an innovative fast boat that uses GPS as a controller, and we competed in the Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI), we won at the regional level. In 2023, we won 3rd place nationally in Autonomous Tourism Surface Vessel (ATSV)," explained the student born in Blora.
What are the tips for becoming an outstanding student? Rayyan said that what he did was just focus on using his time by studying and actively doing activities on campus to gain experience and improve skills.
"There is no harm in being active on campus, as long as it is a positive activity. My work friends and I are looking for ideas and discussing innovations to compete at regional and national levels. Activities allow me to continue to be challenged and growing," he said.
According to him, there is no stopping innovation. Innovation comes from anxiety, curiosity, and the process of discussion with friends and lecturers regarding various problems and challenges around the robotics aspect. Innovation, he continued, must not stop and become complacent, but must continue to be developed so that it can compete with various other campus innovations.
Because of his persistence in studying and the innovation he produced, Rayyan not only graduated without a thesis, but graduated with a GPA of 3.89 and was named one of UNESA's best graduates and received appreciation in the form of educational savings.
After obtaining a bachelor's degree, Rayyan shared his future study plans. He dreams of continuing his studies at the master's level with a study program that is in line with his bachelor's degree. "God willing, if given the opportunity, he will continue to higher education and continue to make other innovations," he hoped.[]
