Kritsachai Somsaman, Director of SEAMEO Thailand, presented an international webinar for the PGSD, FIP, UNESA undergraduate study program.
Unesa. ac.id., SURABAYA—Experts from Thailand and Taiwan were present as resource persons in an international webinar entitled 'Sustainable and Lifelong Learning in Elementary School' organized by the Bachelor of Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) study program, Faculty Education Sciences (FIP) on Monday, May 6 2024.
The resource person in question is Dr. Kritsachai Somsaman who is director of the SEAMEO Regional Center for STEM Education, Thailand; and Prof. Chang, Te-seng, professor at National Dong Hwa University (NDHU), Taiwan.
Apart from that, as a resource person, Prof. Yuli Rahmawati, S.Pd., M.Sc., Ph.D., professor at Jakarta State University (UNJ). They were accompanied by a number of moderators from FIP UNESA lecturers.
In the material presentation session, Kritsachai Somsaman first introduced the aims and role of SEAMEO as a regional forum for developing education policies with a focus on relations between Southeast Asian countries.
According to him, the concept and spirit of lifelong learning must become a common basis in increasing cooperation in the field of education.
"Schools are now trying to achieve the SDGs by implementing STEM (science) learning , technology, engineering and mathematics) based on problem based learning or PjBL and Problem Based Learning (PBL)," he said.
In the next session, Prof. Chang highlighted the similarities in characteristics between Indonesia and China from the disaster aspect. According to him, disasters that often occur in these two countries must be accommodated in learning in educational institutions.
The existence of disaster challenges must make various parties enthusiastic in responding to challenges. with various approaches and aspects. So far, efforts to prevent and handle disasters have not been comprehensive and sustainable.
According to him, disasters must be a concern and linked to learning content in schools. This can be integrated into the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) program based on lifelong learning into the Place Based Education (PBE) curriculum.
Third money, Prof. Yuli Rahmawati also highlighted the same thing from the aspect of social learning or Social Science (IPAS) in schools. This aspect can be linked to the STEM approach.
"Science Science is one of the subjects in the Merdeka curriculum. To apply it in learning there are several stages, namely empathize, define, ideate, prototype and then the last is the test," he explained .
Activities that are part of the agenda to celebrate Education Month; The PGSD Study Program's Merdeka Learning Month was attended by the dean and leadership, as well as the FIP community.[]
