Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA–The cooperation division of Surabaya State University (UNESA) welcomed the visit of a delegation from Chodang University, South Korea in Room 801, Rectorate, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan on Wednesday, December 20 2023. During the meeting, The two parties discussed and signed a cooperation agreement.
Unesa Director of Technology, Information, Communication and Cooperation Prof. Slamet Setiawan, M.A., Ph.D., said that expanding and strengthening cooperation is something that is being intensively carried out both with domestic and foreign partners, including Chodang University.
For professors at the Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS), cooperation can expand collaborative opportunities to improve academic quality, research quality, publications and innovation. Apart from that, it opens up wide opportunities for students to undertake programs such as international mobility, internships, and so on.
Likewise, lecturers can be involved in collaborative research with reputable experts and academics abroad, lecturer exchanges, publications and many more. there are many other things that can have an impact on the quality of the tridharma, achievements and reputation of both universities.
“This collaboration opens up opportunities for 'aggressive' collaboration with direct offers of student exchange programs from Unesa to Korea and vice versa," he said.
This collaboration focuses on undergraduate student exchange programs and opening international scholarship opportunities. Similar to Unesa which has three advantages, namely in the fields of disability, arts and sports, Chodang University also offers several superior fields, namely in the aviation education aspect.
Apart from that, they also have creativity and convergence studies, health studies and nursing, as well as entrepreneurship studies. Based on the results of the discussion, this international mobility agenda is scheduled for next July and will be attended by around 20 UNESA student delegations.
Head of Sub-Directorate for International Affairs or Office of International Affairs (OAI) UNESA, Asrori, S.S., M.Pd., adding that in this program, UNESA students will take part in student exchange at Chodang University and deepen their knowledge of Korean culture.
To Chodang University, he continued, UNESA also offers several programs including: BIPA program, summer course and apprenticeship. With this collaboration, Unesa is ready to send and receive students from Chodang University according to the agreed program, especially Unesa's flagship programs in the fields of arts, sports and education.
Dr. Song Hwan, Director of Planning and Research, Education and International Cooperation at Chodang University said that with this collaboration it is hoped that new innovations can emerge to create stronger collaboration.
The program offered is also intended for Indonesian students, especially students UNESA who have an interest in Korean culture can dig deeper into the language and experiences in Korea.
"This synergy of student exchange cooperation to Korea can also open up opportunities for students to pursue professions and live in Korea," he said. The delegation from Chodang University was attended by Dr. Song Hwan, Dr. Han Na, Mr. Shin Youngseob, and Ms. Moon Seolyeon, with the aim of building bridges of cooperation between universities, one of which is UNESA.[]
