Unesa.ac.id. , SURABAYA–Successfully won 1st place in the Sumo Closed category at the National Robotics Championship (Kejurnas) held by the International Robotic Training and Competition (IRTC) last year, now the high school robotics team Labschool Unesa will compete at the International Robotic School of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on January 24-25 2025.
The Labschool Unesa High School Robotics Team consisting of Faisal Suryo Anggoro, Nawwaf Fahri Firdaus, and Rizky Maulana Esa Mahendra said they were happy because you can take part in this international competition. They have been preparing for the competition since November 2024 while continuing to practice and improve.
"So far we have been practicing, while adding features, what needs to be improved, the strategy, so that when we compete tomorrow, our robot can win against other sumo robots," said Faisal, team leader.
The supervisor of the Unesa robotics team, Agung Prijo Budijono, said that this competition was a good start for the students' future, both for their education and their future careers.
“With the experience they gain later, they will understand what competition is like in the international arena. "They will also make new friends who are equally superior in the world of robotics," he said.

For him, robots are not something to be avoided or feared, but robots must be able to become tools that make human life easier. Therefore, he really hopes that more and more people can develop robots from a young age, from university students to even high school students.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Labschool Institution, Sujarwanto, said that students must be able to make good use of this moment, because not all students can get this valuable opportunity.
"Hopefully our students can become champions, come home with trophies and make the name of the institution and Indonesia proud," said the professor of special education management at Unesa.
