Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—A happy atmosphere enveloped the 1,501 108th UNESA graduates at Graha UNESA, on Tuesday, 10 October 2023. One of those who felt this was Khoirotul Ula, a graduate of Masters in Basic Education, Faculty of Science Education (FIP).
The woman who was the best graduate was still present at the inauguration of her master's degree, even though the conditions were not possible. Yes, he was injured, because he had an accident when he was about to register for the judiciary.
“I fell when the women on bicycles suddenly turned in front and at the same time there was a car in front. "I was shocked and didn't focus, then fell," said Khoirotul after graduation.
From the accident, he thought he only had ordinary injuries and sprains, but after going to the hospital he was diagnosed. It turned out he had broken bones, so he had to go through a long recovery process.
Because of this condition, he used a wheelchair which made it difficult for him to move around, even when registering for the judiciary. Luckily, he had a good friend from Jombang who helped him complete the judicial registration and he was able to attended the graduation in a wheelchair.
The woman from Lamongan said that she felt unacceptable, because the incident was close to her graduation day. Her mind was shaken, but after thinking again and believing herself that it was all fate. Allah and there must be a lesson in it.
“I thought I would be embarrassed to have to graduate using a wheelchair, but my family motivated me to go ahead with the graduation, because this is the result of my struggle all this time. When I graduated, my sister accompanied me." he explained.

The woman who is a kindergarten teacher hopes that after graduating she can provide more benefits to other people, especially her students. Moreover, during this time, apart from studying for a master's degree, he had to juggle teaching and lecturing duties. This bore sweet fruit when he received an award as the best graduate with a GPA of 3.97.
Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes, Chancellor of UNESA appreciated his presence at the graduation even though he was injured and had to use a wheelchair. According to him, Khoirotul is an outstanding student and has high dedication and motivation in studying.
"As our appreciation, the university provides support in the form of health insurance to support the healing process, and we also give our appreciation to graduates who are heavily pregnant ," said the man who is familiarly called Cak Hasan. []
