Unesa.ac.id,- Jakarta - Association of Higher Education Alumni Organizations The State of Indonesia or Himpuni held a friendly activity with the Ministry of Agriculture at the Ministry of Agriculture Auditorium on Tuesday, May 28 2024.
The friendly activity which was also a halal bihalal event and the 8th anniversary of the Association was attended by around 50 State University Alumni Associations throughout Indonesia, including IKA UNESA. Also present were members of the Association's presidium from various regions in Indonesia, as well as honorary guest Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, who is also the General Chair of IKA Hasanuddin University (UNHAS).
One of the focuses of the discussion was increasing national food production . Himpuni as an association of alumni organizations from state universities throughout Indonesia is called to participate in supporting the increase in national food production launched by the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture.
The Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, said that his party welcomed the collaboration that would be established with Collect it. The Minister of Agriculture is confident that collaboration with Himpuni will have a positive impact because Himpuni contains the nation's best sons and daughters, consisting of entrepreneurs, politicians, executives, legislators, academics and other professionals.
"This is an extraordinary strength . "With Himpuni's involvement, I am sure that in the near future self-sufficiency will occur," said Amran in his speech.
Amran added, Himpuni can take a big role in transforming traditional agriculture into modern agriculture through its assistance and innovation. "With collaboration, this country is strong because this country is a fertile, agricultural country," he stressed.
Apart from that, Amran also said that the Ministry of Agriculture has made a pilot for increasing crop yields with modern technology. These include planting rice seeds using drones, plowing using an electric tractor using a remote control, which has been proven to increase crop yields 2 to 3 times compared to traditional planting systems.
Another program launched by the Ministry of Agriculture is to create rice fields from the use of 2 million hectares of empty land throughout Indonesia if there is land that is to be used as rice fields. "By utilizing the demographic bonus, we want to become the world's food basket in the future," stressed Minister Amran.
Meanwhile, the General Chair of IKA UNESA, Bambang DH, fully supports the Himpuni collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture in supporting increased national food production. When met separately, the former mayor of Surabaya for two terms said that this synergy would have a very good impact in supporting increased local food production.
