Being able to penetrate the IISMA program to Europe has been his dream since high school. This woman, who was born in Jember, May 11 2003, considers it important to study on a European campus which is strong with open thinking and a unique learning culture.
“The scientific traditions and developments in science and technology there are important to know and explore their spirit and experiences. "I want to develop myself with ideas and thoughts and be involved in international discourse," said the student who is currently undergoing a Certified Independent Study and Internship (MSIB).
Melly's journey to pass IISMA started with the Phonology class taught by Prof. Slamet Setiawan, M.A., Ph.D who is none other than the Director of ICT and Cooperation at UNESA. From that class, she received information about the IISMA program.
Hearing this good news, Melly remembered her dream when she was in high school, which was to study in Europe. This information became an opportunity for her to realize this hope.
Melly started registering for the IISMA program in semester 4. Because her preparations were not optimal, her steps were stopped at the interview stage. "I received the information late, so my preparation was not complete, especially regarding essays, CVs and the Duolingo English test," he explained.
With this failure, Melly's enthusiasm dropped and she thought that IISMA was not the way to go. achieve the dream of studying in Europe. Nevertheless, Melly remains active in developing herself by participating in various international activities such as the International Cultural Festival.

"Even though there were challenges, I had to take care of everything myself, far from my parents, I took care of all kinds of documents myself, for example taking a drug-free test myself at the hospital. ," added the daughter of Abdul Aziz and Henik Kusmiyati.
When registering for IISMA, Melly chose three countries, namely Italy, Lithuania and England. Even though he was accepted in Lithuania, he actually really wanted to visit Italy.
“Originally he wanted to go to Italy, because he was a fan of the Scuderia Ferrari Team in Formula 1 (F1). Every time I finish praying, I always pray that I can go to Italy, but Allah has other plans, so that I can visit the Baltic Sea. "So, God willing, I will have the opportunity to learn a lot there," he said.
What are the challenges of pursuing an IISMA seat? According to Melly, the real challenge is herself. How to make a dream come true many years ago when he was still in high school.
“I started trying, I didn't forget to pray, asked my parents for support, then I followed step by step. I try not to be careless because IISMA doesn't want awardees who have no intentions. "If I really have the intention in my heart to become an IISMA awardee, I will prepare it long ago," he explained.
While at VMU, Melly will study a field of knowledge that is not far from the focus of her studies in the English Literature study program. . “Because I really like intercultural communication and sociolinguistics. "There I will learn about language and literature, with various different perspectives," he explained.
Apart from that, he also plans to join the Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) theater to build a network with students there and recipients. Erasmus scholarship, including discussing folklore with them.
“I also hope to be able to complete my thesis, especially from the science that will be studied here, namely sociolinguistics. "Hopefully I can publish scientific journals of international reputation from the program I am taking part in," hoped the woman with a hobby of reading and collecting books.
For Melly, passing IISMA is not the pinnacle of achievement, but rather the beginning of a true journey of self-development . He hopes that by passing the program, he can gain a lot of experience, insight, new ideas and can bring important provisions for himself, his parents, his alma mater and his country.
"This is not my first time leaving, because When I was in high school, I also participated in an exchange program in Australia. "This exchange program has made my mind open and I have hopes that will come true through IISMA," he said.[]
