Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—The atmosphere of the National Education Day (Hardiknas) ceremony at Surabaya State University (UNESA) looks solemn in the lobby of the Rectorate Building, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, Surabaya (02/05/2024). This activity was attended by all levels of leadership and the academic community of the 'House of Champions' campus who wore typical clothing from various regions.
As the ceremony supervisor, the Vice Chancellor for Academic, Student and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Dr. Madlazim, M.Si., wore traditional Surabaya clothing, wearing a long-sleeved black beskap complete with odheng.
This concept was chosen to illustrate the cultural diversity that Indonesia has. According to him, the provision of education must not abandon traditional and cultural values that are inherent in society.
UNESA leadership attended the 2024 National Education Day ceremony wearing traditional clothing from various regions.
“Spirit diverse, but still united to build quality human resources for the progress of the nation and state. "This is a value in itself for the world of education," he said.
The ceremony with the theme "Move Together, Continue Independent Learning" strengthens the independent campus learning curriculum (MBKM) to have a good impact in creating an effective education system for intellectual development of Indonesian students.
Prof Madlazim said that with the implementation of the independent learning curriculum, students can be more active in learning, explore their own abilities, and be more creative because their learning space is no longer limited to just the classroom. "Students are better prepared to work and contribute because they continue to be supported to innovate," he added.
All levels of leadership and the academic community involved in the 2024 National Education Day ceremony captured moments of togetherness and diversity wrapped in regional culture.
On occasion At that time, he also delivered a speech by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Anwar Makarim, B.A., M.B.A., who for five years led the ministry, especially for the independent learning program, raising awareness of the challenges and opportunities that exist to advance education in Indonesia.
It is not easy to transform a very large system. It is not easy to change perspectives about the learning process. When taking steps to develop the quality of education, we were faced with a pandemic which had a drastic impact on the teaching and learning process and way of life.
“When the pandemic came, it was an opportunity for UNESA to accelerate changes in making MBKM a success in the lecture environment. "Hopefully this commemoration of education day can be an incentive to continue to celebrate and continue independent learning," said the FMIPA governor, reading the Minister of Education and Research and Technology's speech.
