Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA—Empowerment of people with disabilities is one of the concerns of the State University of Surabaya (UNESA). For this reason, the 'One Step Ahead' campus through the Directorate of Disabilities has established strategic collaboration with three well-known companies, namely PT Asprindo, PT Kekean, and CV Hidroponik Javafarm at the Rectorate, on Wednesday, October 4 2023.
Work This is related to the establishment of the Sheltered Workshop and Training Center for Disabilities (SWTCD) which aims to help develop skills and improve the quality of life of people with disabilities.
UNESA Director of Disabilities, Dr. Wagino, M.Pd., said, the SWTCD program is a concept that has proven successful in helping people with disabilities develop their potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.
"In this program, there is provision of training and employment for people with disabilities who have various types of limitations, allowing them to hone their skills while experiencing the real world of work," he explained.
He hopes that with this collaboration, this program can provide greater opportunities and support for people with disabilities disabilities to develop potential, improve skills and achieve independence.
“We believe that this collaboration will be an important step in creating a more inclusive and empowered society, where every individual has equal opportunities to develop and contribute," said the man from Bandung.
In this collaboration, he added, the Directorate of Disabilities acts as the main coordinator and facilitates the recruitment of people with disabilities who will participate in the sheltered workshop program. Apart from that, they will also provide the necessary educational and training support.
Meanwhile, PT Asprindo plays a role in opening doors for people with disabilities to obtain skills training and job opportunities. In other words, Asprindo acts as a mentor and training provider for program participants (with disabilities).
Furthermore, PT Kekean will provide opportunities for people with disabilities to be involved in various business activities, especially in the field of crafts and services. They will support the development of creativity and entrepreneurship of the participants.
Then, for CV Hidroponik Jawarafarm will focus their program on hydroponic farming. This is an innovative step that provides opportunities for people with disabilities to be involved in modern, sustainable agriculture.
He hopes that this collaboration can open the door to independence for friends with disabilities, allowing them to contribute actively to society , and achieve success in their careers," he said.
