Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA—Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK) is holding the 2023 International Seminar of Sport Science and Exercise (ISSES) with the theme 'The Path of Society 5.0 on Sports Communities' in a hybrid manner at the Rectorate, Lidah Wetan Campus, on Tuesday (29/8/2023).
This fourth seminar was attended by leading sports experts from various countries; Japan, Malaysia, to the UK. There were many issues discussed in the forum, one of which was the use or application of virtual reality or VR in sports.
Matt Hunter from the UK said that sports was one of the areas of interest to some large populations in various countries. This potential demands serious collaboration from various groups. That spirit of collaboration is one of the reasons why they are present at UNESA.
“We and UNESA are now focusing on developing children's talents and passion in sports, especially football. We exchange experiences so that they can be applied according to the culture and environment in Indonesia. "This form of collaboration is also behind the birth of UNESA FC Academy," said Hunter.
Prof. Yukio Urabe from Hiroshima University on that occasion explained research on Application of Virtual Reality for Sports Rehabilitation. One of the results of his research shows the effectiveness of virtual reality in sports rehabilitation.
According to him, the advantages of using VR in sports science include immersion (competition in virtual objects), interactivity (sensor function feedback), increasing participant motivation in in the field of sports, and increase achievements in the field of sports.
“We also conducted research on the effects of acute stroke care training on table tennis players using VR. "It provides significant results in increasing the continuity and function of virtual technology in sports," he said.
Sports expert from University Malaya, Malaysia, Mohammad Salleh Aman conveyed about participation in the fields of sports, coaching, recreation, esports to the community Malaysia. "Maintenance of fitness, health and reducing stress are factors that influence people's participation in sports," he said.
Lutfhi Abdil Khuddus, S.Pd., M.Pd., in his speech, said that there were 30 articles which was the subject of discussion in the seminar. "This annual program is a great opportunity for Unesa to share ideas and knowledge and improve research programs in the field of sports science," he said.
Prof. Dr. Madlazim, M.Si., said that this international seminar was not only an ordinary scientific forum, but also had the urgency to exchange ideas and knowledge in the field of sports science. Apart from that, it is also part of UNESA's efforts to support the development of sports science in the world. [*]
