Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—There are many activities that can be done to fill the last ten days of Ramadan. One of them is the Ramadan Recitation as held by the Surabaya State University (UNESA) in the Rectorate Lobby, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, on Tuesday, April 2 2024.
The recitation was attended by Dr. KH. Marzuki Mutamar, M.Ag who gave a sermon about the virtues of worship and the Koran in the holy month of Ramadan. Kiai Marzuki on that occasion invited everyone to improve their practices both in terms of quality and quantity. Every practice or good deed is rewarded many times over in the month of Ramadan.
The month of fasting is a momentum to increase provisions for the long journey after this world. "Imagine that the same prayer we do in the month of Ramadan or on the night of Lailaturqadar is the same as praying in a thousand other months. Likewise with almsgiving, helping other people and reading the Koran," he said.
Kiai Marzuki invites the entire academic community to both reflected on how the Qur'an remains a guide to life for mankind that transcends the corridors of time and place. The values and messages of the Al-Qur'an are maintained as a guide for life.
"Even though there are many translations in various languages, it is actually very beneficial for understanding the teachings in it, but the essence of its revelation remains the same and is maintained," he explained .
Apart from that, the Qur'an is the main postulate from Allah SWT, which shows that everything that Allah has arranged and conveyed can be found in it.
Kiai Marzuki on that occasion emphasized the importance of Nuzulul Qur'an or the event where one night in the month of Ramadan, the Qur'an was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Even though there is a view that celebrating the Nuzulul Qur'an is heresy, as long as it does not deviate from the true teachings of Islam, commemorating and contemplating the Nuzulul Qur'an is not prohibited.
The head of the Sabilul Rasyad Islamic Boarding School, Malang City also revealed unique facts contained in the Koran. One of the interesting facts discussed is the Al-Fatihah letter which is considered the most important letter. "Every prayer is prioritized and read before other letters," he explained.
Not only that, the reading of Al-Fatihah must also start with basmalah. This is in accordance with the hadith narrated by Imam Bukhari even though it has different reading methods in various schools of thought.
In the basmalah, the word "ismi" itself is recorded 19 times, while the word "Allah" appears 2,968 times in Al-Qur'an. The word "ar-Rahman" is written 57 times, while "ar-Rahim" is written 115 times, and there are many other words that have interesting facts.
