
Group of UNESA Elementary, Middle School and Labchool High School students in the Sister School program in Malaysia and Thailand
Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA–Dozens of level students UNESA Labschool Elementary, Middle School and High School underwent a sister school program in Thailand and Malaysia from 28 February to 5 March 2024. The first country visited was Malaysia.
There, they immediately benchmarking with the Indonesian School Kuala Lumpur (SIKL) and visiting the Art Market. Apart from that, they also stopped by the Twin Towers which are the icon of the neighboring country.
Director of Labschool, Prof. Sujarwanto, M.Pd., said that this program is an activity that is carried out every year and not just once. The aim is to increase students' understanding and experience.
"This is one of our ways so that children can discuss, experience for themselves what and how the differences between learning in Indonesia and abroad are," he said.
All activities are carried out in English. English Camp activities are also included in the program. The hope is that students will become accustomed to international conversations.
Arriving in Thailand, the group of students visited Nathawee School and Watnanom School and also carried out an MoA. There they were welcomed by traditional dance performances from both countries as a symbol of cultural exchange as an opening act.

Not studying alone, Labschool students are accompanied by friends who are students from Thailand. There are various things they do to add to the fun experience outside the classroom such as dancing and cooking classes.
For your information, the group of Labschool students ended their visit to try out other Thai cultures such as the night market in Songkhla and the floating market in order to broaden their insight and cultural knowledge.[]
