The 'Home of Champions' campus delegation who departed were the Director of Educational Transformation and Learning Technology, Fida Rachmadiarti; Head of the Quality Assurance Agency, Widowati Budijastuti; and Director of Innovation, Rankings and Scientific Publications, Nadi Suprapto.
This year's conference was organized by Prince of Songkla University (PSU), under the auspices of the Council of Presidents of Universities of Thailand (CUPT) at the Arnoma Grand Hotel Bangkok, Thailand. The theme is "Charting the Path to Sustainable Universities: A Holistic Approach to Environmental-Social-Governance (ESG) Integration".
Nadi Suprapto explained that ESG, which is highlighted in this agenda, is a concept initiated by the United Nations (UN) in 2004. At that time, the concept was based largely on the profitability of institutions, which was evaluated based on financial performance. .
As attention to environmental, social and governance issues increases, the need to evaluate institutions' commitment to addressing these issues increases.
The activity was opened by Niwat Keawpradub, Vice Chair of the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT) and also President, Prince of Songkla University (PSU). In turn, university leaders from Thailand and Indonesia offered their ideas according to the theme.
"One of the representatives from Indonesia, Eduart Wolok as Acting Chairman, Council of Rectors of Indonesian State University (CRISU) who is also Chancellor of Gorontalo State University also gave a speech," he said.
UNESA professor, Fida Rachmadiarti added that environmental issues such as carbon footprint, waste management, deforestation or reforestation, resource conservation, and climate change must be the attention of universities or institutions to support the concept promoted by the UN.
"This issue is a challenge for the global societal order, so it must be a common concern and able to be translated into practical programs in each institution and institution," he said.
Widowati added, apart from the environment and climate change, other issues such as diversity, equity, inclusion, sexual harassment prevention, working conditions and product safety must also be considered as social issues that support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ) or Sustainable Development Goals (TPB).
"This is a global issue, because for example how to deal with sexual violence and bullying, for example, commitment and collaboration between institutions is needed. This meeting means there is a joint commitment to pay more attention to the issues discussed," he said.
In the aspect of good governance, it is also important to highlight lobbying, good institutional governance, an appropriate audit committee for a healthy university.
Apart from highlighting current issues and challenges, this forum also agreed that CUPT-CRISU in 2025 will be held at the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK), as well as introducing IKN to the overseas academic community, especially Thailand.[*]< /p>
