Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA–German Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS) Surabaya State University (UNESA) held a National Seminar on Studieren in Deutschland, at Auditorium T14 FBS, Lidah Wetan Campus on Wednesday, September 20 2023. Lecturer from Bielefeld University, Germany, Dr. Johannes Tschapka., as the speaker.
On that occasion, the lecturer who had collaborated with UNESA, said that when a student wants to study in Germany, he must have goals that he wants to achieve. "Don't be afraid, just fly straight to Germany. If you have set your goals, there you won't be confused about what you want to do besides studying," he said.
He said that there was a student who asked him about what he should do. he did it so he could study in Germany. At that moment, he explained all the ways the woman could go to Germany. "The conversation turned out to be able to bring students to do research in Germany," said Johannes Tschapka.
There are many ways that we can do, he continued, to be able to study in Germany, the most important thing is a strong desire within ourselves and the belief to make it happen. Because the first step is to do it.
Another speaker, Mohammad Rokib, S.S., M.A., talked about his experiences while studying in Germany. The recipient of the KAAD scholarship at Goethe University of Frankfurt said that studying in Germany was very exciting.
There are many scholarships offered in Germany. Don't let any student hesitate to apply, because if they have enough money, they won't go anywhere. "If you want to find a part-time job there, it's also easy, because the cost of living is cheap, there are no tuition fees for college," he explained.
In Germany, he continued, the main learning is discussion. Students are trained to be critical about everything. Starting from what was learned to discussing things that you had never thought of before. This approach to lectures makes students open-minded. This is the most interesting part that UNESA students must experience when going there.
German Language Education Coordinator, Dwi Imroatu Julaikah, M.Pd., in his speech, said that this activity aims to provide an overview of study and career opportunities in Germany based on the experience of the presenters; one native German speaker and another Indonesian speaker who had studied in Germany.
That way, said Dwi Imroatu Julaikah, students can project their future there. Moreover, now there are many routes to get to Germany, for those who want to continue their studies, there are many scholarship offers. For those who want to research and work, there are many paths. This is proven by UNESA alumni, some of whom have had careers in Panzer Country.
"Hopefully, many students will be motivated to look to their future and seek experience there, in the future. Because getting there is not difficult, as long as you understand the route and conditions and qualifications. Moreover, we at UNESA collaborate a lot with partners in Germany. So the opportunity to go there is very open," he hoped. [*]
