Unesa. ac.id., SURABAYA—The celebration of Education Month or Freedom of Learning Month in commemoration of National Education Day (Hardiknas) at Surabaya State University (UNESA) through the Faculty of Education (FIP) was directly appreciated by the Director General of Diktiristek, Prof. Dr. rer. Nat. Abdul Haris, M.Sc. at the Rectorate, on Saturday, May 4 2024.
The UI professor expressed his appreciation for various UNESA breakthroughs which have enlivened Education Month with many activities, there are health walks, exhibitions, scientific platforms, national-international seminars, and focus group discussion or FGD.
"I applaud Cak Hasan's breakthrough with UNESA which is in-line with the policies of the Ministry of Education and Culture, in this case the Directorate General of Education and Technology "Through this activity, we move together to continue independent learning," he said in a doorstop session with the media after taking part in the FGD at UNESA on Saturday, May 4 2024.
According to Prof. Abdul Haris, education month. should be celebrated to strengthen the shared spirit of advancing the world of Indonesian education. The challenges of the world of education, especially higher education, are very complex, therefore commitment is needed to move together to continue independent learning.
Continue Independent Learning
He believes that the Minister of Education and Research and Technology's breakthrough independent learning program is able to reduce the relevance gap, so that the competence of college graduates meets the needs of the business and industrial world.
The independent learning program which has been running for 4 years, there have been many results, both for students, universities, as well as for the world of business and industry. Like the Google Bangkit program, for example, which accepts thousands of students who are immediately absorbed by industry.
Not to mention other programs such as MSIB (Certified Independent Study and Internship), IISMA (Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards), and so on.< /p>
From the aspect of universities, for example, UNESA, whose IKU always shows a positive trend, more and more lecturers are involved in international lecturer exchange programs.
Apart from that, international cooperation partners, teaching campuses , even students studying abroad through the IISMA program and other exchange programs have shown an increase.
"Last month there was a group of 30 rectors from Germany who wanted to know what year the MBKM program was. They wanted so that Indonesian students can also be sent there through the IISMA program," he explained.
He emphasized that the independent learning program must be continued, because of its positive impact on students, universities and industrial partners, as well as on the sustainability of the system education.
This program created by the Minister of Education and Culture continues to be evaluated so that this program becomes even better. Apart from that, cooperation with domestic and foreign industrial partners continues to increase. Various notes and obstacles continue to be sought for solutions.
UNESA Commitment
UNESA Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., added his commitment to continue to support the independent campus learning program or MBKM, not only maximizing the flagship program from the ministry, but also continuing to initiate independent programs through strong collaboration with various partners in and abroad.
Thanks to the Kemendikbudristek program, UNESA continues to achieve various achievements. Most recently, for example, the 'House of Champions' campus was in second place as a state academic university with the highest number of collaborations, practitioners, courses and lecturers in the Teaching Practitioner (PM) program Batch 4 of 2024.
In addition Meanwhile, UNESA students who took part in MBKM produced thousands of works. Their work succeeded in getting a MURI record and was appreciated by the Directorate General of Belmawa. "Not to mention other achievements at the national and international levels. Our commitment is to continue to improve quality in various aspects," said Cak Hasan.[]
