Unesa. AC ID. SURABAYA—Surabaya State University (UNESA) held a National Seminar as part of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) Week which took place in the Fisipol Hall, UNESA Campus 1 Ketintang on Wednesday, 24 July 2024. This seminar had the theme "Strengthening the Raison d'Être and Directions for Development of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Post Institutional Transformation."
The chief executive, Mubarok Muharam, stated that the results of this seminar would be recorded and published in November-December. The book will include views from outside figures on social science and the role of Fisipol.
This seminar aims to find the ideal role of Fisipol in responding to the dynamics of education in the Free Learning Campus (MBKM) era. One month of intensive preparation involving all UNESA Fisipol lecturers and communication with various external parties. "We hope that this seminar can produce new insights that are useful for faculty development," he said.

Dean of Social and Political Sciences , Wiwik Sri Utami, emphasized the importance of this activity in branding faculties. Also, Fisipol still has education study programs in addition to pure science study programs. For example, the opening of the International Relations Study Program which will accept new students in 2024.
"With the opening of the International Relations Study Program, we hope that Fisipol can be better known and appreciated nationally and globally," he said.
Vice Chancellor III for Research, Innovation, Rankings, Publications and the Science Center, Bambang Sigit Widodo, said that this institutional transformation shows a commitment to adapt to developments in science and the needs of society. "This change is not only symbolic, but also strategic to strengthen Fisipol's position at the international level," he explained.
The Deputy Chancellor for Division III provided a number of directions regarding strengthening institutional governance in responding to challenges.
This seminar presenting a number of speakers such as Prof. Rachmah Ida, Ph.D., and Dr. Arie Sujito, M.Si., who discussed the paradigm and social role of social sciences as well as the challenges of civic politics. The second session was filled by Prof. Kacung Maridjan, Ph.D., and Dr. Wiwik Sri Utami, M.P. discussing the development of political science and the direction of development of Fisipol.
This event is expected to produce new strategies that strengthen the role of Fisipol in providing quality education and innovative research. "We are committed to continuing to contribute to solving social and political problems in the era of globalization," added the Dean of Fisipol. With a multidisciplinary approach, Fisipol hopes to find the right solutions to various contemporary challenges. []
