FEB presents a number of speakers in the 2024 PKKMB series
Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Two thousand new students of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Surabaya State University (UNESA) simultaneously opened accounts in the momentum of Introduction New Student Campus Life (PKKMB) 2024 at Campus 1 Ketintang, last week. Related to this, FEB UNESA collaborates with the BRI Regional Office Surabaya through the HR Muhammad Branch Office.
Osama Rachmad Ramadhani, Chair of the PKKMB FEB UNESA Committee, said that this activity aims to provide new students with an initial understanding of the importance of financial literacy. "New students also need to be encouraged to take the first steps in managing finances intelligently in a sustainable manner," he added.
Cita Mellisa, Head of the Indonesian Stock Exchange, East Java Representative Office, gave a presentation which is in-depth regarding the importance of the role of students in the national economy, especially in the capital market. He emphasized that Indonesia is one of the countries that has a big influence on world economic movements.
Apart from Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which reached 1.37 trillion US Dollars, this economic strength is supported by a significant contribution from the Indonesian stock market. . In June 2024, domestic share ownership will reach 54.33% and domestic trading value will be 55.88%.
In May 2024, the largest investors will come from high school graduates, indicating that the younger generation has great potential in driving the capital market. This shows that students have a great opportunity to become an important part of Indonesia's economic growth. "Students are a generation that can bring about big changes, both on a national and global scale," he explained.
Cita reminds us of the importance of early financial planning. He invited students to save and invest from now on by allocating a minimum of 20% of their income for emergency funds, savings, insurance or investment.
Currently there are 934 issuers in the Indonesian capital market, and this number continues to increase . Cita Mellisa encourages students to actively seek information and understand the capital market, considering the many investment opportunities that can be exploited.

In his speech, professor and Dean of FEB, Anang Kistyanto welcomed the arrival of new students by emphasizing the importance of students' active role during the lecture period. The Dean added that experiences outside the classroom are as important as learning in the classroom.
